Leaked Sprint roadmap reveals slew of releases through September?
Though the document doesn't exactly look magazine-quality, this is a case where we'd argue that it doesn't have to be to be real; it's clearly for internal use only, for one thing, and secondly, we don't know where else the picture of that new Sanyo Katana Eclipse would come from. The Eclipse is just one of several pretty nifty releases claimed to be lined up between now and September, with the Motorola VE20 Vegas and a pair of data cards joining it on August 17. September should bring the Motorola i365 and V950 Renegade, Samsung m220 and m320, and the HTC MP6950 -- which we assume to be either the Touch Diamond or Touch Pro -- clearly in desperate need of an actual name by the time it launches. Go-go gadget, product marketing team!

HTC6950 is most likely a touch dual, which the HTC rep states Sprint will be getting...
Sounds late for the Touch Dual, It should be at least the Diamond if not the Pro.. Sprint is such a mess right now tho' it could be almost anything.
Every generation of HTC ppc on Sprint has been the next set of thousands (ie 6600, 6700, 6800 (mogul) and 6900 (touch)), so it makes sense that the Touch Dual (6950) would be an extension of the current 6900 (touch) line... I am not saying he (the HTC rep) is correct, I am just passing the info...
wow, this is awesome. The katana eclipse looks like the breakout katana sanyo has always needed. Hopefully its camera is better than VGA! I suppose im most excited about the Moto i365, never heard of it. (nextel???) And the V950 "renegade". I have been waiting for that one ever since it was announced in march. Qchat finally! That new razr is very nice too, it will give the eclipse some competition. Im sure everyone is most excited about the HTC. Will it be touch pro? touch diamond? things are looking up for sprint!
I'm hoping it's the Diamond. I don't need to the bulky keyboard of the Pro. I hate bulky phones. The Diamond will be just fine for me, thank you very! Sign me up!
I would be good to know exactly what that mysterious HTC handset is going to be as it could very well influence whether I'm using Sprint or AT&T come this Friday. Hopefully someone digs up the truth in the next couple days, because Sero or no Sero, I'm out of contract and done using Sprint's current half-assed phone selection.
I'm sure HTC MP6950 is the touch diamond, we already seen photos of htc diamond with sprint branding. I really wish they were releasing in august though, I need a phone by then. The closest phone at that time would be treo 800w where I have mixed feelings on.
I say the HTC is the Touch Dual as well. The FCC docs on the CDMA Touch Dual have confidentiality until early August and the CDMA Touch Pro confidentiality lifts in October. Plus the naming convention. Makes much more sense that its the Touch Dual.
The HTC Touch Diamond has the same FCC documents with the same August date.
I don't believe the CDMA Touch Diamond has passed the FCC yet. Don't know where you saw the FCC docs for it. Only the Raphael (CDMA Touch Pro) and Neon (CDMA Touch Dual) has passed.
@ Jim, I think you're on the right track with the Touch Dual and not the Diamond, as it goes along with the naming/numbering convention that Mark pointed out. Keep in mind, though, that just because an FCC doc hasn't been released doesn't mean it hasn't passed already. There are confidentiality agreements on things to keep them under wraps for a while...sucks to keep us wondering, though :-\
I was hoping to get a htc touch this Sunday for my bday, but I rather wait 2 months and get the diamond if it is really coming out then. Somehow I doubt that its the diamond, and I sadly agree that it is probably just the touch dual. Sprint is super slow on releasing phones, and I have a feeling we wont see the diamond till Christmas. Hopefully someone will clear that up with some cold hard facts before this weekend. Right now I'm more concerned with the rumor that they will be forcing the Sprint Everything plans come July 13th. I much rather just get the $15 data plan than have to pay a ton to add the SE plan which wouldn't be worth it at all.
Hey, they're releasing the "July 13th 2008" on July 27th, 2008! Priceless.
My sources say the 6950 is the Touch Dual CDMA as well, as I reported this morning at Sprint Users:

Disappointing, isn't it?

Sprint overcharged my small (US) company for over $50,000.00. We caught them doing it and now they refuse to refund the over-payments. You can read the full story at http://www.sprint-really-sucks.com
I also wrote an open letter to Dan Hesse the Chairman and CEO of Sprint Nextel. It is a good read so please consider reading the letter.

Poor accounting on your part I'd say... billing systems make errors all the time, its your responsibility to make sure youre paying the correct charges/fees.
This is going to be a version of the HTC Diamond (I have seen and tested it), however I'm not sure it will be called "Diamond" on the Sprint network. This device I believe will be replacing the current HTC Touch 6900.
Alot of people are reporting this is going to be the HTC dual, and not the diamond.
This seems odd, because isn't the Touch Diamond and Raphael (Touch Pro) suppose to hit 4th Quarter for Sprint?
Why would Sprint release a phone, that they are going to make Obsolete, in just a month or two.
I guess you don't know Sprint much at all. They like to release phones that have been obsolete for months. Think Palm 800w :) *kidding*
Allen Harkleroad was also responsible for the lowes-sucks DotCom website... no defunct. Just google search Allen Harkleroad.
Now back to the subject at hand! The new Motorola Renegade is going to be the envy of all Razr users and many iDen users will be waiting to hear how the EVDO version of DC works out. For now, I would say stick to Hybrids .. the ic series such as ic602, ic902, etc. The question that remains is to see if the DC works well when roaming off Sprints EVDO network. Will there be roaming agreements for data in order to provide DC services on EVDO direct talk models? Once feedback is received from users and if positive this new EVDO QChat DC may be the next great thing! Perhaps even enabling DC between Sprint/Nextel and Verzions version of EVDO QChat now the line ... now that would be ground breaking.
If the rumored HTC device happens to be the touch dual I wouldn't be disappointed because it will just add another great device to Sprint's lineup and if the touch diamond and the raphael are around the corner (cristmas after the touch dual launch) I wouldn't mind waiting probably instead of whining we should just be happy another great device is added to sprint lineup and yes the dual came out a while but name me a carrier that has it in the USA officially not even att and tmobile that are gsm have this device. Like I said it can be used on att and tmobile's network an unlocked one but officially they don't have the touch dual.
i work for sprint and i have done some addtl research on our new phones to come... the MP6950 by HTC is the model number for the Touch Pro. I hope we'll get lucky and pick up the Diamond as well. Only time will tell!! :)
