Microsoft's quarterly report confirms $500 million spent on Danger
We had heard that Microsoft threw down a cool half billion to acquire Danger earlier this year, but quite honestly, we found it a bit tough to believe. After all, analysts are saying that even Motorola is barely worth that much. Regardless of all that, the outfit's latest quarterly report filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission affirms that it did indeed spend $500 million on Danger. That's a lot of jack, son.

Sounds like a pretty Dangerous move! Ahahahahahh!
...
"That's a lot of jack, son."
Couldn't have put it better myself. You, my friend = win.

I just can't wait to start seeing some drool worthy Sidekicks. I just find this acquisition to be unexpected on so many levels. When I think of Microsoft's mobile sector, I think of suits. When I think of the vast majority of Sidekick users, I think of annoying tweens (I know, it's very ignorant of me, I've grown to accept it). This is gonna be interesting. It's like a sitcom--the suit and the tween have to learn to coexist and trouble and crazy antics are sure to ensue! Tune into Fox--whoa, I got a little to into that one... Yeah, let me press submit now....
And yet the best they can come up with was the "The T-Mobile Sidekick"
I really hope another device is following right after this for the next month because if not the that was a cool 500k for nothing...
Ummm...
500k?
i'd say microsoft has about a year to do something really sweet with the SK platform before i'd consider it a waste.
all it really needs is to get rid of that shitty store setup (let users create and use their own programs ala palm), all new UI, decent media player, and a nice browser... and i'd say the phone would be in good shape.
could go for a "sleeker" design too.
Correction $500 mill.
I hope they make changes because they will have to wip out some godly sh*t to make me wanna go back to one.
MS flushed $500M down the toilet! The Sidekick is rapidly approaching obsolesce.
Don't kid yourself. Plenty of people are loyal to the Sidekick devices.
also, sidekicks may get a big update since microsoft just bought them
Microsoft bought Danger for its assets, not for the Sidekick.
For example, when Microsoft bought Visio, it did a quick rebranding exercise, however in the long term, it used the assets of Visio in building BizTalk Server and Visual Studio designers - products which weren't even conceived at the time of the purchase of Visio.
Microsoft has just bought Danger. I'm not interested in what's coming around the corner, I'm interested in what they do years from now.
