Skype 2.2.0.45 adds in Windows Mobile 6.1 support
VoIP lovers, rejoice in unison. The latest version of your sure-to-be-favorite application has just added in support for Windows Mobile 6.1. No need to adjust your set -- the newly released Skype v2.2.0.45 does indeed play nice with the latest flavor of WinMo, so there's really no reason why you're still here reading this rather than starting a download. But we love you for it, so feel free to stick around if you wish.

omg. It hurts to look at that UI.
Do people honestly still use winmo?
I'm not promoting iPhone, but winno and palm suck.
WinMo has its place. I switched from the AT&T Tilt to the iPhone and there are a few things (like.. MMS... repeating calendar alarms, video.. turn-by-turn nav) that I really miss. :-\
Look how easy it is to type on that phone!
well turn by turn is coming soon so 1 down :)
look how easy it is to type on the touch diamond :p
Ive really grown accustomed to windows mobile. I seriously have troubles dealing with standard phones nowadays.
I have a HTC kaiser and there really is nothing to using it, people seem to have difficulty noticing that most behaviors are like normal phones. presing the phone button brings up the phone, pressing the end button brings you to the home screen, and pressing the message button or the message dialog on the screen takes you to messages. Ive never read the manual to the phone and i know the ins and outs of practically everything.
But the thing i like about windows mobile is the UI is customizable, more so than an iPhone. i can run standard windows mobile today screen widgets, the HTC home widget or even something as elaborate as SPB Mobile shell.
If you don't like windows mobile you can change it :)
you shouldn't have to change it :)
Look how easy it is to type on THE DARE!!!!
@SuperSexyErik (^_^)
oh definitely, everyone should have the exact same thing, because everyone has the same needs, thinking patterns and habits that are easy to cater for.
:)
Why are you comparing the iPhone, which has no VoIP at all in a Windows Mobile article about Skype anyway?
My HTC Touch is sexy inside and out, has way faster internet than anything ATT, much smaller than the iPhone, and it runs tomtom nav, office mobile 2007, live search, SprintTV, opera, skyfire (who needs an external you tube player?), core player (any codec you need), a wonderful built-in email, calendar and contact program called -outlook mobile- (iPhone's sucks hard!! thankfully there are some after market alternitives), oh and it -easily- syncs to my PC and remote exchange server, and without any iTunes or any such media player needed. Why should one ever use a media player to sync mail and contacts. ActiveSync syncs my media files just fine without using WMP. Wait why would I buy a phone that I can't even remove the battery from? I feel sorry for my colleagues that have iPhones, they drool over my touch daily.
You should always be ABLE to change it! Otherwise it's just another brick in your hand.
I almost forgot... the most important app MS Voice Command. Just tell you phone what to do and it goes to work.
Kind of funny that your article shows the JASJAM, which only runs Windows 5, or 6 when hacked. ;-)
And is that Windows mobile 5 in the image also?
Uhm, WTF? Skype has been workin with 6.1 forever now.....
Indeed non news ive been using skype on winmo 6.1
nothing works with winmo bro
This Jason character really wants to get into Laura's pants...
the software loads, but that's about it. I am not able to place any calls, and hear people for that matter on the other end. FAILed so far for me. and I have a Sprint Mogul.
It doesn't work on my Sprint HTC Touch. Well... it gets past the login screen finally and i can chat. My skype out and skype in both have no Audio either way.
I believe iPhone's are for people who can't use a device like an AT&T Tilt, Touch, Diamond, etc.
The ONLY HUGE advantage that the iPhone has over anything else, is the fact that it has sensors inside that sense position and speed. Big whoops honestly. I can't see myself playing with my phone like a Wii controller. Sure it's cool but the novelty wears off really fast. Can you imagine trying to do anything useful with that other than for games? Let me see how you can turn it upside down and around and see a fully written message come out of it. I hardly doubt it and I'd love to see someone retarded enough to even try it out in public and be ridiculed for attempting such a ridiculous feat.
I work for AT&T and have worked selling Verizon stuff. Honestly I like my Tilt much better over the iPhone anyday as I've had extensive experience with it both for personal interest and professional. I gotta say it's one of the biggest piece of garbage due to all the damn software problems on it. Yeah the Tilt has it's quirks but NEARLY as much as the iPhone. I'll give it to them that Apple has only been in the field for a little over a year, but come on, don't release a piece of crap that needs updating almost weekly. (Sorry don't get offended, it's not that much but it seems like there's always an update around the corner)
I've had WAY more people trying to warranty out an iPhone because of actual problems than the Tilt. MOST of the people returning the Tilt have been because they're idiots who thought it was cool when they saw the phone but don't have a lick of patience to learn how to use a device properly or customize it to be one of the best things they will have ever encountered.
Customization is the pinnacle of being human. Who the hell wants to be the same all the time? Why the hell would you want to customize something like a Lamborghini? Because you can and it separates you from any other one, even as rare as they are.
Sorry, but I have to admit, I recommend the iPhone to "average" people and the Tilt for someone who is looking for more. Honestly what I mean when I say average is for idiots that want something pretty out of the box and is easy enough for a crap flinging monkey to operate in less 5 minutes. Anyone with an ounce of intelligence and needs to do important things on their phones should get something like the Tilt as it would suit them more.
I get my phone and service for free. WHEN they give me the chance to swap out my Tilt for an iPhone, I will be happy to decline. I love my device so much for what it does and is capable of. Much more than I can say for the iPhone. Not to say that my device is perfect, it still has things that I long for improvement on but I can't ask for everything now can I?
Oh please, don't get me wrong, I'm not some high IQ snotty bastard. I'm a lowly common folk with an attention span longer than 2 seconds and long for something that is worthy of being called a smartphone.
P.S. I do love my PC more than a Mac also. Not that Mac's are bad machines. They're honestly good but I just love the commercials that try to differentiate themselves from being a PC. Especially the fact that Macs ARE personal computers and they're pretty much being all made with Intel processors in them now. But I don't want to take any of that away from the Mac community. Let them love and live their world. Maybe one day they will all realize that Apple has a really good advertising campaign for making people believe that they are really that different, when ultimately they're the same thing as the guy next door.
