Sony Ericsson's XPERIA X1 gets early date with eBay
In this culture of instant gratification, it's comforting to know that there's at least one source out there for Sony Ericsson's XPERIA X1 well ahead of the official release. An eBay auction expiring this Saturday is offering up (or claiming to, anyway) the opportunity to be the first kid on your block with that sleek, sexy bundle of metal and Windows Mobile -- if, of course, the price is right. It looks like a sale price well above $1,000 is a foregone conclusion at this point, and there's no guarantee that the auction is even legit, so you'd better really want an X1 more than the next guy before plunking down that kind of cash for a prototype. We'll wait, thanks -- not because we're patient, but because we're not old money. Now excuse us while we go sob quietly to ourselves in that corner over there, okay?[Thanks, ginger.al]

We have been taking pre-orders for the X1 for months now at $999 and we have quite a few customers waiting.
If its legit, then why not? I would get that it is not because I have seen to many people scammed through ebay, especially on phones that are yet to be released.
Yet still no one can match the screen size of an iPhone. Is no one willing or able to do this?
Yet the IPhone can't even touch the resolution on the X1.
You are iDiot!
Have you ever heard of The HTC Universal, or the XDA Flame? Both devices surpass the iPhone in Screen size and resolution.
Do your research!
The X1's screen has 2.5 times as many pixels as the iPhones. You can keep your big, crappy low res screen. But of course iFans don't know or notice things like resolutions.
The X1 is going to be amazing... err will have to be amazing to save SE.
South Africa? No thanks..
Cant be legit because this guy is also selling a nokia n96 16gb. Thats not even out. so cant be real
There are a TON of companies out there that get devices way early so they can develop for them. So, yes it could very, very easily be real, just not ethical or in line with the NDA he may have signed. He most likely stole it from his company or whatever. How nice.
it's huge... And fat.
Who would buy this? LOL
Iphone users
If this had capacitive touchscreen I'd be all over it in an instant...
As it though both this and the HTC Touch Pro are on the top of the list of what I'm
Never rush into buying a Windows Mobile phone that hasn't been reviewed yet.
So far, all hands-on and previews have shown the Panels Interface to be choppy, slow, and incomplete.
Hey Douch-bag....The same holds true for any new device, not just "Windows Mobile" devices.
Thank you, captain obvious.
Now let me rephrase for 'creatures' like you: Windows Mobile is significantly unstable and unreliable, so if you're gonna buy a smartphone in advance, it better not run Windows Mobile.
Douche-bag yourself.
Any idiot needs to read some things about the Seller:
1) Member since Feb-10-08
2) Located in South Africa
3) Only sold one item, rest was as s buyer
4) Photo is from a trade show model
Can you say scam?
Stop kidding around... This guy looks legit. He has 100% positive feedback. What's to lose? :)
Well, yeah Sameer, but this guy only sold on item, maybe to his brother, and the buyer maybe was happy, that is why he has 100%! lol
btw, Haxor, do you know the iPhone release date for Croatia?? Cause I live there... tnx
I can't wait for the root kits on these puppies. YAY SONY!!!
ehm.. ehm.. con man!
ok funny story here, i was on a plane going to florida, before we take off i see this mid aged guy taking pics on an iphone with his kid. We land and i see him pull out a phone that looked a lot like the X1, so i ask him very nicely if it is and he was cool and let me play with it. Turned out he works for ericsson but was still touting the iphone 16gig 3g around. Must be nice, and here i am with my verizon contract and voyager.
I am fearful of being scammed on Ebay. The listing for the Xperia would look more legit if there were photos of the actual unopened box. I don't care to see trade show pics and specs. Anyone willing to spend a $1000 on this phone has probably already did their research. But then again there's an idiot born every second.
This is obviously a scam. The guy has 15 feedback and has sold three items, two of which to someone with 0 prior feedback (i.e. part of the scam), and the one legit sale was for $12.50. The stock photos are a nice touch, and I especially like how all most of the bids came from 0 feedback buyers to bump up the price.
If it is not a scam, then the guy got it from a trade show, and a lot of those models had problems with their configs. Why spend money on a phone that doesn't work right when you can wait? Thats my problem.

I will also wait for the real release. For two reasons, one because it is ridiculous to put up that much money when you dont know if is legit, and two because who knows where the xperia x1 is from. If its from an old trade convention and doesnt have the config finalized yet, I would rather spend my money on a phone I know will work the way its suppose to.
