Whole thing is confusing -- I was hoping that with this latest generation of phone, you'd be buying a device named "Touch Diamond" or "Touch Pro" no matter whether it was the CDMA or GSM version, no matter whether it was direct from HTC or branded by a carrier. Obviously those who care to differentiate will still refer to the devices by their Kaiser/Hermes/Titan/Vogue/Wizard/etc. internal names, but it seems like HTC is going to hold themselves back from selling a really "iconic" device if they (or the carriers) keep giving the things twenty different fuckin' names.
RAZR has a consistent name across all CDMA and GSM carriers, iPhone is obviously consistent across all the GSM carriers shilling it. Why does this thing need to be a Touch Pro if I buy it unlocked, an MDA Vario Twenty-Seven if I buy it from T-Mobile UK, and an "ay-tee-and-tee Fuze" if I buy it from AT&T?
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
