Samsung i900 Omnia turning up in UK
The Windows Mobilicious i900 Omnia from Samsung definitely qualifies for the upper echelon of 2008's crop of smartphones, thanks in no small part to a 5 megapixel cam, capacitive touchscreen, and a UI that seems to do a bang-up job of concealing WinMo's ancient visuals. That's all well and good, but most of us don't live in a locale where the Omnia has launched on a carrier -- which is precisely why we should all be nice and jealous of our British friends righ about now. It seems the 16GB handset is now available through O2 over in those parts, and what's more, it's straight-up free if you sign up for a £35 (about $65) plan. Hey, American carriers, you guys paying attention here?

WTF?! Free? only $65 per month!
OMG this is torture
jealous doesn't even begin to describe my feelings right now... $65 for the entire shebang?? i think we need 2 get our passport game up folks lol
Damn now im jealous.
I wonder is this rom will be available for the Kaiser.
im sure someone will figure it out.
you mean it hasnt even been released? when are they planning to release it?
a little more time goes by and it will be outdated
the rom wont work because all of components are different... but MAYBE some of the UI can be ripped, not sure because i know the omnia probably has a higher resolution, more ram, faster cpu, and possibly a seperate graphics chip... like i highly doubt a mogul or a tilt could run touch flo 3d...
touchflo 3d is available in several ROMs for the tilt on xda-developers. It was ripped from the Diamond and runs great on my tilt. But you're right, the UI would basically have to be imitated in a cooked ROM. But some of the chefs are working on some great ROMs with visual improvements to WinMo.
This IS torture!!! I've been watching BGR and engadget everyday for news of a release on AT&T. Where the **** IS IT?!?!?!
I know, seriously, I need a new phone bad cause my current phone has 1 foot in the grave and won't last much longer I think, but all the cell phone makers don't seem to want to get of their rears and release stuff here, so iritating that they put them out in Europe and ignore the US for so long cause i'm pretty sure we're a bigger market so they are only losing sales, they should just release in both at the same time, i'd own an Omnia already if I could actualy get it here (unlocked overseas versions that don't work on our 3G doesn't count as being able to get it here).
just $65 per month......
this is torture.....

ATT wont be getting this phone, its most Likely coming out for T-Mobile as one of Their FLAgShip 3G phones they've been talking about in addition to Dream and Tacco.
Its gonna be hard to CHoose which one to get!

The last one you mentioned is available now... I got one with beef, cheese, and beans last night.
Would be good, except o2 would be the only network without 3G at my house
you're underestimating how big the mobile market is in just the uk.
Maybe america can have more people sign up but the amount we spend is incredible.
£35 is a lot. Maybe not if you get this phone as well but is it for 18months as all contracts seem to be going now.
I pay £35 and can upgrade in oct so will keep an eye on this phone. Last upgrade i got an N95 for free.
I believe we get mobiles earlier is due to the fact most of the operators and mobile manufacturers are european and in america you have a different network type which is only used there so phones have to be made compatible and sometimes manufacturers can't be arsed to do that unless pushed.
think the n95.
I was really looking forward to this one, but screen resolution is to small, screen is to narrow, needs a stylus build in, and needs to be able to use TV out while charging (or you won be able to see more then an hours worth of favourite recorded tv show.) feels like a beta phone. i returned mine after just one day. the HTC touch HD seems promesing but really needs a D pad, or something like the Omnia’s mouse sensor. Lets see if HTC quartz manages to deliver.
