It won't be the first launch in North America -- those honors go to
Telus at this point -- but Sprint won't be far behind. A pretty believable new slide deck suggests that big ol' Number Three will take delivery of its
Touch Diamonds in September and start hawking them for the princely sum of $299.99 on contract after rebates, netting customers a 3.2 megapixel cam, 4GB of internal storage, and EV-DO Rev. A, among all the other spoils that only Windows Mobile 6.1 can offer. Is the back end of it
red? Can't really tell from this angle, but if the goal is to offer up a high-end business tool, we've gotta believe black will be available either way.
[Thanks, anonymous tipster]
Picturemail is a supported service. I wonder if the same as the current support, or a new official Sprint app that is included.
Can't wait i will get this as soon as it comes out
*Yawn*
Where's the Touch Pro at? ;)
I get where they're coming from wanting an iPhone competitor, which this will do well at, but not releasing the touch pro alongside it will mean another game of catch-up when AT&T and the others release their touch pro and the x1, etc.
but sprint is getting the touch pro in USA before any one. i think they have 30 day exclusive to only sprint.
and isnt the touch pro comming out a month later any way.
Where's the accelerometer? Is it even in the Sprint CDMA version?
--James
The Telus version (CDMA) has an accelerometer so that bodes well for the Sprint version which should be exactly the same.
Expensive phone is expensive.
That doesn't bode well for the X1 which will probably cost more... poop.
it says sept 2 at the bottom so its looking like maybe the touch pro will be out beginning of october. im guessing a 399.99 tag. hopefully verizon follows 30 days behind each phone and has same prices. anybody have info on that?
Sigh. I wonder how much the touch pro will cost. Its better although without the 4 gigs of internal memory which should make it cheaper. I hope its not more then 350.
You think they'll require the same $70.00/mon. plan as the Instinct?
i hope not. so many customers get madd when i go to tell them they mite have to change plans but when in the end they actually leave happy since it includes every thing. less billing issue and a higher ARPU for sprint which is what they want. but i really hope they dont require it.
I dont think Sprint will do that with this phone. They did it with the Instinct to match the iPhones required plan.. this one isn't as heavily marketed towards the iPhone, so hopefully the required plan is left behind. also i think because this is not a sprint exclusive, they'd be afraid to try something like that (theyd be afraid of customers switching carriers to get the phone.)
but i seriously hope they dont cause that would be the only thing stopping me from getting this or the touch pro
To get the $100 MIR you will need to sign up for the $70 "Everything" plan. That is what Sprint is doing with all their PDA phones. $150 discount automatically - get an extra $100 off the phone if you pay more each month. Just pay the extra $100 - the ROI is about 3-4 months.
The Sprint logo in the upper right corner is covering what would be the video conferencing camera on the reference device.
:: sigh ::
This doesn't fit... Everyone else (Telus included) is listing the original price for the phone at $449.99
I'm calling fake.
the dollar has fallen. the touch went for 500 retail also. this has more features so yea it sounds right. hopefully the touch pro is the same price
Possible debunk #2 is that all HTC phones sold by Sprint are not branded HTC... they're called "Touch by HTC" or "Mogul by HTC"
If this does turn out to be the price, Sprint can keep it. I'll put my $300 in the bank until the Tegra phones come out.
I'll stick with my Sprint Touch.
I really hope this is fake.
The 800w is 250 i bet the proce at least is real.
I went into a Sprint store the other day asking about this phone and the pro. The person working there told me that it was coming out September 2nd and was unsure if it would be $200 or $300. I'm betting this is real.
Real reason we know its fake, Sprint isn't using the name HTC Touch Diamond, but Victor instead....
actually sprint will be using the diamond instead of the victor.
Victor was a codename for the phone while it was in CDMA development, it will be called the Diamond.
I'm getting mixed reports about the Sprint Touch Diamond now... Some say that it's been delayed, others are saying it's coming in at $249 or $199...
I guess we're just going to have to wait and see.
I love phones, I love gadgets, but I just can't justify paying $299 for any phone. The Diamond and the Pro are going to be the best phones on the market and will trounce the iPhone. I'm sure plenty of people will jump on the Diamond even at $299, I'm just going to wait.
$199 would be fine, $249 is pushing it, but $300 for a frickin phone... What does Sprint think I am... an Apple user?!
