Canada's FIDO eyeing Nokia E71?
Nokia's slim and slick E71 has been touted -- OK, rumored, but we're hopeful -- to have its eyes set on the number two GSM provider in Canada, FIDO. While no pricing info is being bandied about, the "news" does see it landing during the November timeframe. Rogers, FIDO's parent company and only GSM competition -- at least for now -- has apparently passed on this little QWERTY gem, though these kind of stories do change with time. Look for more news once we get something a little more tangible.

they are eyeing a 10 year old phone?
you are an idiot...Apple is not any better than Nokia...Japanese phones are the real phones that are ahead of everyone else...Even the iPhone 3G is not selling well in Japan...
oh they arent? thats why its sold out and a recent japanese winmo magazine switched to "iphone life"
?? do some research pal
Makes 100% complete sense. E62 did horrible at Rogers yet sold like hotcakes at Fido (it was their first data device)....I'm sure Fido's hope is that all of those E62 users will upgrade to the E71 and along with it update their data packages to use the HSPA goodness.
about Japan u gotta kno that if more than 10 ppl will read it, they make a magazine for it ok??? seriously, check out even a basic bookstore so the name switch isnt really as huge as it appears~
what is huge is that since the iPhone has come out, I've seen precisely 5 on the streets (Tokyo) and my housemate has one, and all the Japanese ppl I saw with it were of the nerdy variety...not thats theres anythin wrong with being nerdy mind u...I'm sure they r selling, just not as huge as ppl might think, and as for being sold out, again some stores maybe...the first day hype is so gone~
In perspective, in Beijing for the games a couple of weeks back, saw more iPhones there than here in Tokyo and no Chinese carrier is offering up the phone so...
the minimum data price has also been lowered twice since the debut...from bout $72 to $24...probably the good folk ova at Softbank Marketing (or whereva) kno a thing of 2 that all of us don't ;-)
biggest fanboy out there, I'll cop a iPhone as soon as I'm back I'm sure, but in Japan its not going down like that.
~jus sayin
Nokia is made in Finland. GG
