AT&T serves up Samsung a237
The spec sheet isn't going to widen any eyeballs this morning, but as low-end flips go, Samsung's new a237 for AT&T really doesn't look half bad; then again, maybe we're only saying that because its rounded case and bold lines are a welcome change from the typical anonymity these phones usually suffer. True to its target market, the a237 tops out with EDGE data and a VGA cam, features a passable 160 x 128 main display, and sticks with grayscale for the secondary. It launches today in your choice of black, red, or blue, and rest assured, it's not going to break the bank. Scout's honor. [Warning: PDF link]

Wow another soo hot and wanted phone is added to the AT&T phone line up. Every one else is adding coool touch phones and hot music phones and even WM 6.1 pro phones and us with AT&T we get another great flip phone. Nice way to say to your customers if you want the lates and greatest go else where or wait we do have the ohhhh sooo sucky Iphone 3g.
You know, not everyone needs a phone that can do everything. Most of us (even I, a gadget freak) don't need nor can afford the latest and greatest. We just want a simple phone that can make calls and the occasional SMS.
I looked at the specs, this looks to be the perfect phone. It even has bluetooth, which you failed to mention. Hope it can sync to my computer. It says it can do hands free, let's hope I can tether it. I noticed it also has mobile email, and j2me, so I can load in some apps.
About the only thing I don't see on the spec sheet is exactly how many megabytes of memory it has. I can handle it if it only has about 5 or so, since that is about all I would need for apps and pics. I hope the external screen stays on all the time unlike the POS a127, and I hope this replaces the a437 with it's crappy glossy keypad. Looks like this is designed to grip. I know I will be picking one up in both black and blue as soon as it comes out.
I completely agree. I'm getting a little sick of reading about all the cool phones other US carriers are putting out. Let alone all the cool phones in Europe and Asia. The iPhone just doesn't do it for me, I like phones with quality cameras. But ATT seems to be happy with the iPhone and a bunch of low-end phones. I think the Nokia 6650 looks pretty nice, but again no good camera. When are those 8mp (or even 5mp!!) camera phones coming?! They haven't picked up a single N-series except for the N75 like 3 years ago! That SE c905 looks sweet, and I know there are some in the works by LG and Samsung (though we'll probably get screwed with EDGE data only in the US). Each time I see ATT announce a new crappy low-end phone, I cringe because I know that's one product slot less for a phone I'd actually want to sell my soul for another 2 years for.
