Whoa, looks like HTC is going full-device touchscreen in a hurry. We don't know much more than what we can scrape off the screen, but this BlackBerry Thunder(storm)-like handset looks to be running TouchFLO 3D atop WinMo 6.1 and a Qualcomm 7201a processor kicking 528MHz. But that display, WVGA, please HTC we want to believe. One more after the break, plenty beyond the read link.
Yeah that Nvidia device was hot. But it focused on graphics whereas I think the HTC model will probably not. Although you would think with a screen like that they really really should. Hopefully it'll playback all video formats well...
I wished they also had teh screen size. They compared the overall size to the iPhone which is almost the same, so I am hoping that the screen itself is the same size (3.5). However, the HTC seems to use more of the face for the screen so here is to hoping for larger!
I also hope they have more storage than my iPhone 3G and the touch so I can carry my entire music collection and videos. (Its just silly for a media device to be short on storage.) M
lol, maybe you would like to have WVGA resolution, 5MP cam, real GPS navigation, copy/paste, 20,000+ apps, completely open & configurable system, too. WM can be controlled enirely by touch with 2,8" display already (I have the diamond). Concerning the screen size, the device has almost exactly the same dimensions as the iPhone, but judging from the pics, the screen uses more space. Adding the fact that it has WVGA display, I guess the screen size will be something like 3,7" or so. So finger-navigation must be perfect.
Lets not forget about Edvo rev A, running apps in the background and a $99 simply everything plan. The iTards get scared if a device might surpasses their little iphone.
wait for it... wait for it... hmm nothing, think i even heard a needle drop where's the apple fanboys? thought i seen em heading up the hills, and now don't forget, cos they cant compare the screen size anddisplay resolution anymore, here they come to bash winmo 6.1 or maybe the screen is too big or maybe the button is too red.
lol why do touchscreen phones keep getting compared to blackberry.. blackberry has be an also-run since they started with touch screen and full screen phones. Blackberry has fanboys at engadget. Lets not forget that the blackberry was a fat Treo-looking beast before the pearl 8 series. Now they go into a larger touch screen and they get to hold the title of "first" ?
back on topic. This seems to be more of the same.. I mean what are they bringing different to the table than the Diamond? Capacitive screen? Proper Accelerometer? Android?. The processor is a tad faster but with crappy WinMo6.1 on there it needs to be at least 1Ghz with 512MB Ram.
Bring something new with this HTC.. don't just change the form factor of your existing phones and call it "new"
hmmm. I was planning on the Touch Pro (if voda uk pick to a launch date) but this makes me look twice. I desperately want to go back to a tablet Palmtop style pda (like 1997 for those who think that form factor starts with iphone.), all the decently powerful ones have keyboards :-( however, will they beef up the video chip to run 800x480? I think those extra few pixels really drag my toshiba G900 down (yes aswell as the non existant video driver) and despite the huge advantage it is, is it worth the perf drop, along with the fact there is less support for WVGA than there is for VGA. and what really is the point of having a big screen like that when you cover it in touchflo? I fit everything on my current today screen, where as this has half of that resolution taken up by a clock that doesn't even show seconds and hides all your important data (tasks anyone) in sub pages? you don't buy a HD TV and then try and watch VHS though it do you? so can we have a front end that uses that expanse (hmmm, like the built in today screen we've had since 1999)?
Maybe they'll also make a "pro" version w/ slide out keyboard AND 3.5 mm jack on top. That would have me waiting beyond the Xperia's US launch for my Tilt replacement.

First the Diamond, then i waited for the Pro, then I was waiting for the X1 (HTC Made), now im waiting for this?
Most exciting announcment by any phone maker since the X1. This is going to be sweet. Ive used the Diamond, and there is very little keeping me from picking that up since its out now. That "very little" just grew a bit.
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
Wow, that is truly gorgeous. Reminds me of the Nvidia concept device.
I wonder what the screen size is on that, hopefully as large as it's likely competitor.

Throw Android on that and Im sold. Not too fond of the wanna-be sidekick hardware for the G1
Oh yeah! forget the thunder, storm, lighting, hurricane or whatever BB is calling that thing now, HTC, oh yeah!
Wow, looks sweet. I can't wait to get more info.
Leave it up to HTC to make a great phone, Cant wait to get my hands on it
Very Nice For Sure!!!
Cannot WAit to get More Information on this Device!
Really EXciting Times in Cell Technology!!!!

And according to the read link, it has a 5 MP camera and a 3.5mm jack at top. Plus a 1350mAh battery.
This is very impressive.

wow...
(we want to be like iPhone too!)
Shut up you iTard.
That's like saying every FPS just wants to be like doom.

I like this iErik guy. Not everyone can be intelligent you know.
EVDO? Someone hates the iPhone... Isn't this device HSDPA?
In other news, this device is extremely sexy. A must have!
i hope that was sarcasm, hard to tell on the internets, but if it wasn't... EVDO > HSDPA. Sprints network is way faster than cingulars.
Want it. Now.
GSM or CDMA?
That one is GSM obviously, note the 3G
wait for it...

Higher screen resolution?! 480x800?
I know Hitachi had a phone running at a similar resolution, so did the LG LH2300, but neither of them are in the market yet either!
Besides, HTC's UI shell for WinMo seems very attractive and fluid. Also the other phones have been developed for specific markets, IMHO.
This one *might* be the more generalized high-res phone around...
they are bringing that big ass screen lol
This is the only thing I would trade my white iphone for :)
This phone... ruins any plan I had to get xperia x1!
No doubt a fantastic phone but it will take away buyers from the X1 .
But even more amazing! it going to be in time for WM 7!
Dunno, the X1 still has a keyboard over this though.

The screen is a 4" !!!!!
Camera 4,9 MP.
The only problem i see : it's the same processor than the Diamond, which means it should be slow as hell :(
Nice phone but Window Mobile suck. and the screen need to be glass not cheap plastic.
...and so are you.

Your a moron.
doesn't opera 9.5 come with the diamond and pro? why is this using opera mini? something's not right...
Interesting...'In stores for Santa'
Should be the first of many pre-announcement leaks.
This is 'almost' enough to make me delay purchasing the HTC Touch Pro...almost. Either way, HTC is getting my $$$.
This might make me want to convert back to windows

HTC.
Why cant you just let me buy something?
