Leap wireless to double population covered by 2010
Leap Wireless's Cricket has big plans for the coming months, namely significant expansion. The regional carrier currently umbrellas some 61.7 million people, and it's hoping to up that to 120 million (or 40% of the US population) by the end of 2009. This may sound like a fairly lofty goal, but the company's already doubled once between 2005 and 2007, so why not give it another go round? We're thinking if it keep launching decent sets and crazy, inexpensive, and contract-free plans, why not? Shoot for the moon folks, we love it.[Via Phonescoop]

wow. just looked at their website and i seriously wish they had coverage where i live (Lower Eastern Shore, MD). not to impressed with the phone lineup since i would prefer a smartphone but man, those contractless prices are crazy low.
I currently have an unlimited data plan with Cricket. $40 a month, no contracts, with service that rivals att (who I had previously for a month) and is much cheaper.
Not sure if I'd switch over to a phone plan when they get phone coverage to all the areas I use my att phone in, but we'll see.
