HTC S740 hands-on

We had a chance to put our hands on an S740 recently, and let's just put it this way: if there's a phone that could convince us Windows Mobile Standard was the way to roll, this would be it, no questions asked. It's stunningly beautiful, has one of the best displays we've ever seen on a device of this size and form factor, and you're still packing a full QWERTY keyboard should the need arise. We're told that the matte keypad will be replaced with a glossy one on the final production device, which is only going to bump the chic look yet another notch. Strong work, HTC -- now just cut us an American version to sell unlocked through Best Buy, and we'll call it a day.

I liked the matte finish! It just makes the gorgeous little screen all that much more gorgeous.
I was just going to say I hope they dont ditch the matte finish! The phone looks amazing the way it is, please I need a NAM version!
It was all sweet until I saw the last 3 photos, and found out it was -ASTONISHINGLY- as thick as the Touch Pro (a.k.a. thickest brick in history)
But besides the thickness, looks really nice!
It really is beautiful and I too would take Standard over Professional any day, but... did you really say 'slim'?
Yeah, may have been a poor word choice there - I meant from side to side, not top to bottom. :-)
Oh. In that case, I agree. Nice form factor. Only thing I don't like is that the slideout keyboard is huge; bigger than that on the Diamond Pro. There goes any chance of typing on it using only one hand.
Shame they dont do this form factor with WM Pro, would be nice to have both input options.
that's just too much keyboard for one little device ;-)
Wow, I like it! It seems really Willcom-esque... :D
Does any one else notice how familiar this phone looks compared to the Windows Mobile 7 demonstration pictures? http://www.engadget.com/photos/is-this-windows-mobile-7/561239/
