Another phone that requires an ambitious service plan, doesn't fit well in a pocket comfortably, and could be a great fit for the right demo. I'm out of contract and want a good megapixel phone (2+), wifi,, great display, and a slim/stylish form factor. I text, and a qwerty would be great. Can someone tell me if I have missed a phone and reasonable plan that fits my needs?? I know, wifi is a stretch..
@ Erik: You know this phone is only 14mm think, right? That's the same as a closed RAZR.
It's a little on the long side at 112mm, but then, the iPhone is 115, and there are PLENTY of folks who pocket that.
The closest thing Verizon has for you is the Dare, but it doesn't have Wifi. None of their dumbphones do, and none of their smartphones have the "great screen" you are after.
ATT and others obviously have other options (Vu, G1, iPhone, etc)...
The Nokia e71. You'll need to purchase it unlocked for around $350 or $400, but it's the thinnest smartphone available (I think) at 10mm, 3MP camera (although the pic quality seems a little less ... a quick google search will show you what I'm talking about), WiFi, 3G, QWERTY. With its metal construction, it looks classy and feels great in the hand.
A lot of people will discount it right away because it's running a Symbian OS, but I've had really great luck with it. I've found it to be functional in every way I use the phone, and in two months I haven't had to reboot the phone or had to deal with it rebooting itself. And with Mail for Exchange, I've got push (or push-like ... immediate, in any case) e-mail and wireless syncing with my Exchange server. I couldn't be happier with the device.
Oh, and you can use it with AT&T's MEdia Net for $15 / month.
