Thirdly..... there is no comparison... yes they are both cell phones, yes they are both touch screens, however, the X1 is 2.5 times more expensive ($1000 nay I say I wont pay). Also, the X1 runs on WinMo.
Now I live Microsoft... yes yes I know.. I can here the jibes now..... but Ive been a developer for a number of years now (and in fact I develope on the .Net platform so Im not against MS); the WinMo platform is just not ready for primetime. Its slow...... or rather i t s s l o w . . .
also, poor poor poor poor memory management.
Ive had 4 WinMo phones, each time I say... NO MORE...... I wont do it again, and each time Ive gone and tried a new one (the last 2 being the T-Mobile Dash & the TyTan). Beattiful bricks is what they are.
Im on the Curve right now and it works... period. Email, notes, docs...... whatever! It works. Yes here and there I get a hiccup.... but NOTHING compared to WinMo. I used to have to reboot my WinMo phone AT LEAST 3-4 times a day (please note, this isnt just because of WinMo... this also has to do with manufactorers placing subpar processors in the machine, but MS allows it so...).
Now.... G1 Open Source! BAM!
Qualcom 528 Mz CPU! BAM BAM!
3G 7.2 Mps and GPS! LORD HELP ME! BAAAMMM!
microSDHC out of the box.... 16 FRIKKIN GB!!! BAM YOU MOTHER EFFFERS!!!
and to top it off... a cute touch screen interface.

Now... Im sure one day MS will finally make a mobile OS (winMo 7?) to compete.... but till then... wheres my G1?? You're comparing the carrier subsidized price of the T-Mobile G1 to the cost of the Xperia X1 when purchased through grey marketeers, which is hardly fair. If the Sony Ericsson model is released by a carrier in the U.S., (all signs point to AT&T) then it will be much more competitively priced.

I love ppl like you that always feel the need to regurgitate information that they hear. Never one to provide anything useful or bring anything new to a conversation.

Well, let me teach you something new to regurgitate. The G1 is OPEN SOURCE. You know what that means? That means that:

BAM a video player (maybe even a recorder) will be out on or before launch bank on that one.
BAM a desktop app will be too I'm sure - if not who cares I like drag and drop better anyways.
BAM I'm sure you can use other email with the phone - you just need a gmail account as well - so what - oh and guess what, I'm willing to bet that if you cant at launch someone will develop an app that will make it possible soon after.

So, while your curve just sits there with the same junk you bought it with - G1 owners will be enjoying a wealth of new apps and programs each and every day. Mobile is here to stay, it could use improvement yes(which they have
continued to do), but it already offers far more features then any
other OS for phones to date, and its not going to be succeeded any
time soon. It will take a while before android or any other OS
reaches the functionality and user base that Windows Mobile has
claimed over the years of use is has compiled.

Personally I have used WinMo since before it was a phone, starting
with my Ipaq 3800 and Ipaq hx4700, both of which has WinMo 2003(and
if you did not know, the HP ipag\ hx4700's specs are still better
then the newest phones out today!). It was a hard move to WinMo 5
because I was so used to the layout of 2003. My first WinMo 5
PDA..and first good Phone period was the cingular 8125. (came from a
black and white screened nokia that did not even use a SIM card for
cingular)

I was very happy with my 8125, it was a better version of the HTC
Wizard I felt that T-Mobile had with their Vario. I loved being able
to get onto myspace/facebook/ebay/email/aim and even to be able to
use Excel for work schedules, Power Point for school slides, and Word
for typing notes and even papers in a pinch. it may not have been as
fast or snappy as my hx4700, but it got the job done, and thats what
I needed.

I upgraded to a 8525 and sold the 8125 for $200. The camera on the
8525 was much better, I hated the physical buttons, but got used to
them. It was hela lot faster then my 8125 (double speed actually) the
only problems I ever suffered was the radio on my 8525's seamed to
like to disconnect me from the internet. After 3 phone replacement's
ATT sent me a Tilt for FREE

That was a year ago and I have NEVER had to even soft re-set my Tilt
unless installing a program required it. My 8925(tilt) makes me so
happy and has been super reliable through thick and thin. It's a
valuable asset especially now that I have GPS and a 8GB sd card for
my music ( goes nice with my Moto stereo bluetooth headset at the
gym)

Although I see all these nice phones coming out, I see no added
benefit to upgrading at this point. The X1 seams like the first
choice because its will be well designed, will have a higher build
quality and have good specs with a very versatile operation system
that already has thousands upon thousands of applications made for
it, and older versions that are compatible. not to mention the screen
resolution and size is larger then the HTC's new line up (excluding
the Touch HD which we will not see)

The HTC touch diamond will go to those that prefer to use the stylus
for txt entry, and mostly use there fingers on getting quick
up-to-date information with touch-flow 3d(which is a awesome program
btw). Its very small for device that can do so much, and very nice
looking too. The Pro version will feed those that need the physical
keyboard and crave the VGA screen(actually both versions) and SD card
expansion. I used to be ok with just text entry via a stylus from my
old PDA's...but ever since my first slider phone the 8125 I got
hooked..

I am very surprised that HTC did not bring the touch HD to the
states. With the Iphone being so popular, it seams like it would be a
solid competitor for those not wanting to jump on the iphone
bandwagon, but still have a full large touch screen phone.
Additionally the iphone caters to a different consumer then the
windows mobile customers. The market is still there!


Good luck to every one in there evaluation on what phone suits there
needs best. For me it's the Tilt. I do not NEED the VGA screen that
the new phones are bringing...sure it would be nice, but my needs to
not require it. Just like I do not need a faster processor or storage
beyond the 32gb cards my phone will support. I have wifi, 3g,
bluetooth, a awesome keyboard, and access to thousands of very usfull
3d party applications to suit my needs.

I even have a cell phone watch that I take with me when I do not need
the functionality of my Tilt. This gives me hope that one day I can
carry a MID around which will give me alost FULL PC specs to carry
around in my pocket ;)

We can't compare a VGA with a QVGA. We can't compare Android with WinMo 'cause Android isn't mainstream enough yet.
