RIM's BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 gets photographed, previewed
While many of you may be waiting for some other handset to launch on T-Mobile, BlackBerry addicts may very well be counting down the hours 'til this one lands on the aforesaid carrier. If we just rang your bell, chances are you'll be extremely interested in this here preview, which delivers a whole gaggle of photographs, a decidedly ho hum video (hosted after the break) of the Pearl Flip 8220 in action and a lengthy writeup explaining the ins and outs of RIM's first flip phone. As for highlights, this thing turns into a real monster (read: it's big) when opened, but when closed, it's a real looker. For more on the aesthetics (not to mention some shots beside a few other BlackBerry siblings -- Bold included), head on down to the read link and dig in.

The screen doesn't appear anywhere near as pixelated as BG was claiming a few days ago. Screen doesn't look half-bad, in fact. Are my eyes getting that bad? What gives??
i've gotten to use on and the inside screen is nice and crisp, the outside screen is kind of fuzzy when the clock is on but when a message comes in it too is nice and sharp. it's almost like the clock is being scaled up and shows jaggies.
BGR always plays down products that are being launched for other carriers other than at&t. This going first to T-Mobile. He plays down the Storm going to Verizon first as well even though everyone else seems to give it a great "positive," review.
When this device hits at&t, it won't be so bad in BGR's eyes sans the lack of 3G.
Engadget has flipped a little on their opinion of it too. The first time they saw it in person at some trade show, all they could talk about was how gigantic it was. Now they're calling it a "real looker"? I don't see what the big deal is if it looks big when opened -- every QWERTY slider does.
@Sarah - You know, I never noticed that, but you're absolutely right. BG is an AT&T whore, isn't he? Wow, that bums me out. I despise AT&T.
So what's with the black color? Everything up to this point has indicated an awful burgundy color but there have now been several unboxing shots of it in black. This non-awful color would seriously sway my decision to get one.
Honestly, it's not that big. Not that I've gotten a chance to play with it, but it's like the same size as a RAZR dimensions-wise, except a bit thicker. If you really want small, stick with the Pearl 8120.
BTW, I finally realized what was so weird about that guy's Curve...he changed the keypad to black from the gray. It'd been bugging me as to why it looked so different lol.
