Sonim's ultra-rugged XP3 headed to US in March, looking for trouble
When you're completely waterproof, able to function in temperatures ranging from -4 to 140°F and withstand body slams from six feet above the concrete, you pretty much roll however you please. Thankfully, Sonim's bringing its latest ultra-rugged handset, the XP3, into the United States in March, meaning that you can finally abuse your handset without feeling all guilty afterwards. Specs wise, the US version of the GSM phone will pack quad-band EDGE support, GPS, Bluetooth, "flashlight mode," a glare-resistant 160 x 128-resolution display, an Opera Mini web browser, 3-megapixel camera and a 3-year no-questions-asked guarantee. Sadly, we've no price to share, but we don't suspect all that rigidity will come cheap.

there's a video on a german website that takes it too a torture test:

But I never felt guilty about abusing my handset before. Piece of $hit that it is...
But will it blend?
i work on an oil rig and trust me I would much rather pay more once for a good solid phone and not worry about it for 3 years than every 6 months for a crappy phone. I've often been stranded because my phone stops working because it got wet in rain and stuff, and it's seriously incovenient. Put me down for one of these! I know someone who has the XP1 and swears by it.
Alex237,
My name is Bob Plaschke, and I am the CEO of Sonim Technologies. Oil Rid you say? I think the XP3 could be perfect for you. You're right on about the 3 year guarantee, we wouldn't want you to have to repay for a phone that will match your lifestyle. Until the XP3 comes out, take a look at www.toughestphone.com to learn more about the XP1.
Thanks for the kind words.
Best,
Bob
Sorry, correction: *Oil Rig
