Nobody that has an iPhone is going to say positive things about this phone. This is Verizons last chance. Im going day one and testing it out, if its a decent phone ill stay with my better reception and settle for a less flashy phone. If it isnt good, Im walking right over to the apple store.
With projected release dates already passing, how bout giving an actual one. Im sitting on a Razr with a busted outer screen.
As far as the videos 1) I'm happy I can finally watch the videos here at work these were uploaded in a compatible format, yay. 2) I'm not as impressed with this as I should especially considering this going to be my employers flagship phone, I sadly dont think its up to par. the scrolling in the vznav part of the video like before was unresponsive, or over responisve as you can see at the end of the video where it scrolls a couple times without user input.
Till then I will just continue to use my iphone in th ebuilding much to the sneers and jeers of my coworkers who were too scared to take a chance at the Jesus Phone.
I have a 16GB iphone and I think the Storm is awesome. I hope it lives up to the hype and lights a fire under Apple's a$$ to get the ball rolling on much needed iphone improvements such as landscape everything, cut/paste, turn by turn gps with traffic, and a more open apps.
I got an iPod touch. All the nice touchscreen and multimedia features + wifi without paying a minimum $69.99 (and that's only 450 mins and no texting) to AT&T every month when at my employee discount with VZW is so damn cheap. Shoulda gone that route D Train ;-)
I would of kept an employee account if it was still 5$ for 50minutes and 5$ extra for unlimited texting, I dont make phone calls just text, internet browse etc. But now that you have to have nationwide, still can't call our employee accoutns team and get shit done, I'll take my overpriced plan, over glorified phone(that does what I need it to do, does it fast and does it well.) And continue sticking it to the company, besides why should I pay my own company part of my paycheck back if I dont have any leverage? Personally I want verizon to pay me, not vice versa Elgee.
Besides I've defended vzw many times in the past, but the storm looking at the videos, isnt up to par with the Iphone. Which we'd all be naive if we believed it wasn't why RIM made this device.
Your release date is November 9th. Extremely Firm. Store Hours are being extended. Merchandising is being changed and updated. Training deadlines are the 8th. Enough said...
It's cool man, to each their own. I am just confused by your last statement... VZW DOES pay us man, we don't volunteer for them. Do you imply they should just give us free wireless service? Listen, I know forcing us on nationwide plans and getting rid of those old grandfathered plans sucked (I was on one too) but thinking they should just give us free wireless service is absurd.
Nothing against the iPhone either, but to me it just seems crazy you'd be willing to fork over at least $79.99 a month (since you said you text) to AT&T when you can have an iPod touch for no monthly service and have a 450 min premium plan on VZW for $39.99.
Yeah it was more prevalent when I first started working here 3 years ago and my friend at AT&T was getting free service from AT&T while employed. I dont care if they pay for my service or not, what I'm saying is I dont want a part of my paycheck every month to go back to a company I work for, when I can't call into customer service and get anything done. I've only called AT&T 3 times in the 9 years I've had the service. When I had my VZW services when I started working here, I called at least 10 times, wrote coutnless emails to try and get things fixed.
The service is great, the employee customer service needs to be rebuilt from the ground up, and even if we had an Iphone on our network, I wouldnt come back until the employee customer service was torn down and redone. In the off chance I have to clal AT&T I can get what I need done, and not have to worry about getting reprimanded by my supervisor if I cuss someone out in employee accounts because they're terrible and dont care.
Well D Train, I don't know what position you have with VZW, but I do have a concession line with VZW that is free to me. I only use it for work and customers, I still keep a separate personal line for friends and family that I pay for (and am more than willing). I think only sales and managers get concession lines though.
And yeah, employee customer service does kinda suck, but I guess I am lucky in that I rarely have to call them. Sure, the few times I have they have been almost worthless but I ended up getting what I needed.
Hey man, if you're going to go ahead and do an iPhone... go to Best Buy and get it. They are the only place that can offer a service protection plan on the phone and it's the exact same price for the unit itself. Definitely worth taking advantage of that service plan, pretty much everything is covered except lost or stolen but you likely won't let the thing out of your sights long enough for that to happen anyways!
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.

@ Ryan
Are you referring to the Nov 9th date as the Release of the Storem?
