When it comes to Canadian cell phone providers, I can't even make jokes. It doesn't matter which one you choose, they ALL take advantage of and abuse their customers really terribly just because they can. I think the average Canadian with a cell phone spends about 78 dollars on a month on their bill. Canada also has one of the lowest rates of cell phone penetration in the developed world, probably because a lot of people can't afford one. How wonderful. Did I mention the mandatory 3 year contracts?
I think Rogers is the worst. Cutting their store managers' wages first, and now their sales staff's commission about in half, after seeing an 84% increase in profits and record subscriber adds over the summer. They have about 2.4 billion dollars in liquidity and are about to raise their stock dividend. A company doing amazingly well in a world economic crisis (due in no small part to their workers). Hmm, making a shitload of money working your staff to the bone and then cutting pay right before Christmas! Wholesome.
I'm American and I live in California but every time I go up there I'm amazed by how bad the companies are. When I saw the Rogers/Fido wage cuts I fricken' flipped just out of respect for the workers
Boo Canada wireless energy and Canadian government regulation, boo! I hope the Canadian AWS spectrum auctions create A LOT of heat for the existing big three!
