GSM-only BlackBerry Storm clears the FCC

Folks in North America don't have too much cause to get excited over this one, but anyone planning on buying a BlackBerry Storm from, say, Vodafone, can now rest a little easier knowing that the less-than-secret GSM-only version of the phone has cleared the all-important hurdle that is the FCC. There's not exactly any other surprises to be found here, naturally, but if it's test reports you're after, you can find plenty of those by hitting up the read link below.

Checked it out at the release party in LA. Screen is nice, phone is garbage!
What makes you say this? I've been researching the phone and I plan on getting it, but I'm fine sticking with my current one for a while if it's no good on the first go around. Any details on why the phone would be "garbage"?
I do plan on importing one from Europe...but this doesn't make me rest easier.
Bring it home to T-Mobile :)
Does anyone know it will it work on 1700/2100 MHz?
Nope, the only UTMS band it can run is the Euro 2100 band.
It's basically the Verizon model sans CDMA.
Will imported one work with ATT blackberry ?
I hope this is coming for at&t. I work for verizon, but I just really don't wanna switch. Through some glitch with at&t from when I worked there, I'm still not paying for anything, so I'm hoping I can ditch my 8110 for this beast. If not, it may be time to start paying for my bill after 2 years...
GBallew, is there any real release date estimate on the storm or pricing? I dont know why its such a big secret with Verizon!
