AT&T Fuze dummies popping up in stores
Sprint beat 'em with the Touch Pro, but that doesn't mean a throng of AT&T customers aren't going to be delighted to hear that the Fuze is now shipping to stores -- sort of. Retail locations are receiving dummy Fuzes now, which don't do much good if you're trying to store contacts, make appointments, or place calls, but at least give us a solid indication that retail availability ain't too far off. Sorry, Tilt -- you had a good run, but our lust definitely lies elsewhere at this point.

Compared to the tilt your not getting much of a upgrade. Doesn't matter they will get my $500 anyway.
I dunno?
Faster chip.
Double the ROM
Double the RAM +
Higher resolution screen
Flush screen (no more pocket lint jammed into the bezel)
5 Rows of keys - even though you still get the ATT number key arrangement
Sounds like a good trade-up to me.
I am sure it will be strange not having the scroll wheel, though.
You do have a scroll wheel if it is anything like the HTC Diamond. Which it obviously is a variant of. The 5-way also operates as a touch sensitive scroll wheel.
I did not realize that.
But you'll have to use two hands though: one to hold the phone and one to scroll, no?
no, the scroll wheel is fully operational with one hand. thats what the Diamond/Pro was made for with the TouchFlo 3D, one handed useability
I'm not sold on this phone..... I played with the Touch Pro last night at a Sprint store and its VERY thick, even thicker than my Samsung I760 is. I didnt like the feel of the keyboard either. I'm tired of my i760, but I don't think this is the phone I will switch to.... Not sure what I will upgrade to, but this isnt it
Glad they didn't make it ugly with the rounded edges like Sprint's versions of the Diamond and the Pro. They make it look fatter than it is.
I'm still trying to wait out this Xperia also. But this is climbing to the top of my list. I mainly wanted the Xperia for the solid structure and of course the resolution. But if by time I got my moolah together, the Xperia is not on a carrier here, or selling for a reasonable price...i'm saying fuck it! Might even go with a Touch HD import (although I abhor phones with no physical keyboard)
The Touch Pro/Fuze is looking a little more complete to me than the Xperia. TouchFlo 3D, while not perfect, is much more cohesive than the X1's panels. Maybe the panel concept will take off, but i'm just not impressed with the idea, and it's not as fast to switch as it is switching tabs on the Touch Pro. The US version is also getting a gimpled processor, so we won't get 30fps VGA video, and graphic performance (ie the panel UI) will be taking a hit as well. The X1 also lacks an accelerometer, and there's no dedicated button for switching orientation, although one can be set. The only things that still have me interested in the X1 is the higher res screen and better build quality.

time to hit the asian phone stores...
hope they have it today.
do you guys know if it has internet sharing?
i just called a retail store in nj and they said launch date is set for nov.11! $350 with $50 rebate
I will keep the diamond i just ordered :)
Spoke to an AT&T representative at the local AT&T wireless corporate store. They do have a HTC Fuze dummy for me to look at, if I want. However, she told me, that the release date has been pushed back to Nov 24th :( ...
Hopefully Engadget Mobile can check into this for us.
Does anyone know if you will eventually be able to install Android on this phone?
Thanks.
