Best Buy's pre-order info says that the phone will cost between $199 and $299. I'd bet on $199. Not bad (they're apparently throwing in an 8GB microSD card, so it will be going head-to-head with the 8GB iPhone at that price) but not earth-shatteringly cheap, either (this is Verizon we're talking about).
So, in short: The BlackBerry Storm is Verizon's iPhone killer, and they feel confident that it's a comparable product and thus they don't need to compete on price (unlike Sprint with their $129 Instinct).
I don't really follow your "it's expensive because it's Verizon" logic. the iphone is $199, and that's because it's heavily subsidized. the Storm is the first of it's kind (Blackberry touchscreen as it were) and you're getting not only the device, but also an international charger, a 8GB memory card, AND a sim card INCLUDED. if it's $199 with 2yr contract, after rebate, I would say that's one helluva deal!!!
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.

The 8GB card is preinstalled on all BB Storms. Unless you mean Best Buy is throwing in a 2nd one
