The only requirement on the rebate was that you add/have a txt package on to the phone. So upgrade, new customer, or retail, you should get the rebate.
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
you get the $50 "rebate" if you pay full price. so the ATT store guy told me. we'll see if i actually get it.

@ badqat
good point. but with a phone like that, it's tough to not have a text and/or media net package.
I suppose one could potential use it without txt or Media Net...It does have a media player...but it wouldn't make much sense.
Are you still digging the phone?
yeah, so far, it's been great. i use it for news/scores browsing and it does great. Opera mini works best and looks better than the packed in browser.
hopefully there will be some more customization options. i wish i could change the icons on the front and delete some of the included apps.
and if it's popular enough, google will get on board with the OS and really make this phone great.
I hate to break it to you like this but the rebate does requires a 24 month agreement.
@ fadi - I've got the rebate form right in front of me. There is NO requirement for a 24 month contract listed.
