AT&T starts to hawk Samsung Eternity online

If there's some pressing matter that's preventing you from making it out to an AT&T store, there's a plan B you might want to investigate now that the carrier's website has started offering the Samsung Eternity for sale. It'll run you the same $149.99 on contract after rebate that it's going for in-store -- or $379.99 commitment-free if your life is too awesome and chaotic to sign it away for two years. Any Vu owners planning on caving to temptation?

I might be interested in this phone if Sammy and ATT hadn't decided it would be better to remove WinMo. My guess is that they didn't want to have to write a WinMo MobileTV app since they already have one on the Access. Oh, and they could keep costs down (and profits up) by avoiding MS licensing fees.

Maybe it is because Windows Mobile sucks. Besides, AT&T has too many Windows Mobiles phones anyways...

Agreed...the exclusion of wi-fi is the biggest sin this phone makes.

However, as far as leaving out Window Mobile - that just means you get a better OS, as well as $15 unlimited MediaNet v. a $30 smartphone package.

I think these are AT&T names.

Also, to the person who thinks there are too many WinMo phones on AT&T,go to your local store and say taht. You'll not see so many. Thewre are only 2 new phones in the last year or so. Since the iPhone, AT&T has been far behind the bell-curve on WimNo phones. Verizon has the juice now.

Yeah, I have the Vu and I most likely be switching now. When i saw The phone, i enjoyed it. The phone is bigger, better QWERTY keyboard, the headphone port, auto-rotation, and etc. This is a nice phone. I can't wait to own this phone. PEACE!

I am a LG Vu owner and i'm deff buying a Samsung Eternity. I just checked it out at my local AT&T store and i absolutely love it! The touchscreen is to much easier to use than the Vu. The Vu when scolling a page you have to press down hard and drag and with the Eternity it is pretty much as responsive as the itouch i own. Oh and the Eternity has a accleometer(however you spell it) and the Vu doesnt have it. You can text in landscape mode but the keysare so close together i always have so many errors, and i have real small hands and if i have trouble i know everyone else is to. Plus to go to landscape mode on the Vu you have to press the landscape mode button you cant just turn your phone to the side as you can with the Eternity. Long story short.....Vu not good / Eternity good and cheap! :-)

Can anyone tell me if the Eternity can record a sound and use that recorded sound as a ring tone?
It might sound like an odd question, but it's a fairly important feature to me.

Lazarey, yes you can save a recorded sound on it and make it your ringtone
