Nokia E71 finally coming to AT&T as E71x
We've been hearing for ages that there was a super-special version of the E71 with an AT&T ROM floating around somewhere in Nokia's skunkworks, but solid evidence of its existence has been scarce to say the least; some said it was canceled, some said it was just taking its sweet time going through the testing process, and some put a hand over our mouth and told us never to speak "AT&T" and "E71" in the same sentence again lest an agent overhear us. New in-the-wild shots give us -- and the North American S60-loving public -- newfound hope that the phone's gonna actually happen, but it'll emerge as the "E71x." That's a new suffix for Nokia, so we really have no idea what it might mean -- more internal memory would be cool, but we're not really counting on it. Word is that it'll be available for something in the $150 range when it finally hits, so if the 6650 isn't your cup o' tea, hang tight. (And by the way, guys, we're totally digging the black.)

Bye Bye iPhone
This is very good news, since I'm an AT&T customer. I had actually been considering buying an unlocked E71.
ooh... interesting news. I was thinking of getting the 6650 last weekend, but I might just wait. Being used to a qwerty phone for the last two years was the only that kept me from the 6650. I use gmail and a lot of pop3 services, and not being able to use them on AT&T's crippled phones, and tired of Smartphone jacked prices, this might be great (if they keep this S60 on the plain jane medianet plans.)
Damn... im not a Nokia guy, but that is one sexy looking phone!
Nice hair, even better device. Why am I still with Verizon?
I love Nokia phones but cannot stand the S60 as a phone OS. It does not 'feel' like a legitimate OS to me. But hey, it is personal opinion. I have handled one in real life and they are fantastic as far as the build goes.
Wow, I did not think it would actually hit ATT. Need to see what features ATT crippled. I held an unbranded one last month, very solid and high end. Better than the N series I would say in construction. This was the only phone I was considering before iPhone.
I definitely thought the plastic E63 was headed to at&t instead of a version of the E71
Knowing AT&T, they'll fill the phone with tons of bloatware, cripple tethering, and who knows if they chop off Wi-Fi. Remember the Nokia E61 and E62?
Plus, at&t will charge customers $30 for data. If you have the unbranded E71, data is $15
I don't have ATT I have Magenta currently but I really think this looks like an Attractive, Solid device - D
"Plus, at&t will charge customers $30 for data. If you have the unbranded E71, data is $15"
How do you get this?
Simply add a MediaNET unlimited package to the phone number you plan on rocking the phone on. $15 for all you can eat data, as opposed to $30 a month for all you can eat data.
son of a B*TCH... i'd been scoping out this phone for months... waiting patiently for it to hit stores... couldn't find it (until i saw it on display at best buy) for $459 - no way i was going to spend that much on a phone. and now at&t is going to be selling it for about $150, right after i'd finally given up hope and bought the iphone instead? that sucks nuts.
Any news on a possible release date. Im up for an upgrade in december and i'm chomping at the bit for a smartphone.
Is that all black or just the lighting? Cause if it's black, I'd buy it, especially at that price.
Yes its all black
Mid February ish
Made of all Metal
Tmo is doing subsidized unlocked at BBY
WM has nothing on SYMBIAN. If you can't use symbian then you don't need a "limitless" phone. Go get an iphone ... LOL
