Nokia pulls out of Japan, nobody notices
It's not like Nokia was dominating sales in Japan anyway -- far from it. So it's not too big a loss to walk away from its near 1 percent market share when it's sitting atop a (dwindling) 40% 39% share globally. According to Nokia vice president Timo Ihamuotila, "We have judged that we cannot continue to invest in product development just for Japan amid the current tough economic conditions." Nokia will continue to sell its luxury Vertu branded phones though, presumably on that MVNO Nokia is rumored to be rolling out this spring.

not only Japan
nokia will NOT provide ANY handset to T-Mobile USA in 2009!
oh hai is this some delicious FUD?
But Sharp is entering the US market through T-Mobile next year too. So let Nokia go and let's get some nice phones for a change. 8MP camera? 3+ inch screen? Dolby virtual surround sound? Optical mousing system? Bring it!
Well, Nokia you can't have them all, and thats like the opposite in Finland right? Don't they have like 90% or something super high?
sad.........
anyways

But you see, SE makes separate phones for Japan that never see the light of day outside there. For example, compare the SO905iCS to what Europe gets in the way of Cybershot phones. Not even close.
