Another BlackBerry Storm firmware shows up
We suppose this comes with the territory when you're dealing with a major new smartphone on a major new (or heavily tweaked, anyway) platform that's in its launch infancy, but there's already a second new firmware floating around for the Storm. Actually, "floating around" isn't a great term here since Boy Genius Report isn't giving up the goods -- but the site appears to have obtained 4.7.0.76, which would be exactly 0.0.0.01 higher than the leaked firmware from earlier in the day. They've posted a laundry list of improvements and changes, giving us hope that the handset is on RIM's fast track to being as solid as it needs to be; unfortunately, no one knows when it'll be released, or if it'll simply be rolled into another build down the road. Keep your chins up, Storm users.

I'm really not interested in 1.5 hour processes every night updating this thing. I'll do it, but not happy about it.
damn right you'll do it. and like it.
The new firmware took me only 20 minutes to download/install last night. Everything runs excellent and I am now very happy with the Storm. Of course there are a couple of hiccups still to be resolved but considering where it started from, Im happy with it.
Funniest parody ever!
In today's episode, BlackBerry Bella has the new BlackBerry Storm in her hands. The only one in Canada since they are not sold here yet. Then iPhone 3G Sophia comes along ..

Check it out!
I love the verizon network. I was really hoping more with this phone, but the idea of a click screen is just not working for me simply for the fact that no other touch screen clicks. So the problem you'll face is if you try another touch screen device you're going to be conditioned to click on the screen when it doesn't click. So the iphone/ipod/android and whomever else makes a touch screen aren't going to do the click screen thing.
If this release doesn't come out with in the next 20 days while I have left to play with this phone then I'm taking it back for a refund.
I don't know why people would want this shiz. iPhone is the king, and always will be.
the iphone wasn't the first, won't be the last, and isn't the best by far. get over it already.
It should be clear that BB is selling their phones with beta quality software so they could grab the holiday shoppers.
Shame on them. Someone ought to file a lawsuit!
how many people sued Apple for doing the EXACT same thing? no one, because only an idiot would make this suggestion. Of course Apple is Jesus, Allah & Kanye West all rolled into one, now isn't it
maybe we could get the same lawyer to sue apple for releasing a "smartphone" that skipped cut paste, multi tasking, and the half dozen other missing features that are standard on free phones, not to mention an app store thats full of useless diversions.
@ Celz I concur
I 3rd that notion! AND someone should sue AT&T for forcing iphone customers to have a specific plan that covers data usage! DAMN THEM!! how dare they do that?! don't they know people who buy these kinds of devices have NO desire to use them for anything more than a phone!?!?
Yet another example of the 'beta culture' we live in. Can't they release a product that has been tested enough to iron out these problems and NOT need to have firmware update after firmware update within weeks of its launch to fix them? Its not just this product in particular too. Its sickening really.
It is all about money and greed! Sell first and fix it later attitude. Of course, customers get screwed and wasted
their time. I hope someone files a big lawsuit and send a strong message.
yeah, maybe they can include Apple and AT&T! how many updates have there been for the iphone (both original and 3g)? and how many of those came out just after release?! SUE THEM! A product should be released without any issues whatsoever. There should never be a problem with anything you ever buy! This would eliminate store return policies, not to mention multiple trips to stores or shipping back a defective product. What's more, product protection plans wouldn't be needed because everybody would know that what you buy will NEVER break or have something go wrong with it!!
yeah! YEAH!!! Where do I sign up!?
{/sarcasm}
