Rogers launching HTC Touch Diamond at $199.99 on contract?
Not that you can't snag an HTC Touch Diamond in Canada right now, but those loyal to Rogers are still waiting. As of this moment, we still can't locate the WinMo 6.1-based handset on the outfit's website, but MobileSyrup has it that the phone will soon be released for as low as $199.99 on a 3-year contract (with a minimum $45 voice / data plan). Oddly enough, we're also told that it'll be available with voice-only plans for $449.99 (3-year), $549.99 (1 to 2-year) and $599.99 (month-to-month), while a data-only plan is available on the $499.99 handset (3-year). Weird, we know -- which makes us all the more anxious to hear this gibberish from the horse's mouth.

They always try to con you into getting the dreaded data plan. iPhone was 199.99 with a min 45$ data/voice plan however they sell it for the same price with just a voice plan. (I'm on a 30$ plan)
P.S. President of Rogers Communications Ted Rogers passed away today. May his soul R.I.P.
thats a random pricing scheme
and i am John Madden
ahh noo... i was waiting for this one cuz of the diamond shaped back... :'( nd if i have to spend an extra 100$ on Rogers compared to Telus or Bell, i dunno what im gonna do...
They don't have the diamond shaped backs on these phones in North America which sucks.
And wireless wave and t-booth have this and the E71 on their sites under rogers! Which is awesome... now to decide which one to get!

They definitely do have the diamond shaped backs. I saw a dummy model back in October, and they were in the November issue of the Rogers UR magazine.
I ordered this from Rogers on Thursday last week and I just got a shipping number issued today (Tuesday). It is $199.99 on a 3-year term.
Rogers sometimes makes new smartphones available as hardware upgrades for existing customers a couple of weeks before they put it on the website / in the stores for everyone. Same thing happened with the Blackberry flip.
As for the pricing scheme, that's standard for Rogers smartphones. The Bold has had similar prices for a month or two. And I wouldn't want this phone without data anyways, and the plans are finally reasonable since the beginning of Nov. ($25 for 500MB, $100 for almost unlimited)
But they're definitely in stock, so if you want one, give 'em a call.
I was waiting on Rogers to bless me with the Touch Pro without having to switching carriers, (was hoping for a miracle). But after seeing these prices for just the Diamond, I'm glad I caved last week for an unlocked AT&T Fuze. No new contract, and comparable prices to these outrageous pricing details (for no data plan, which I didn't plan to getting).
