Secret iPhone video-out features hacked, used for video games

Hey, just because using secret undocumented iPhone SDK calls might get you booted from the App Store doesn't mean it's not a good time -- Ars Technica commissioned Freeverse to mod its Moto Chaser game to use the hidden video-out features in iPhone 2.2, and we have to say the results turned out pretty decent. It's not perfect -- it looks like it only works in landscape mode, and rendering to TV resolutions strains the processor and slows framerates down on all but the faster 2G iPod touch -- but it works, and it's a taste of where iPhone app development could go if Apple ever opens up the gates. Or you could just be Google and do whatever you want, we suppose. Video after the break.

It's funny how the iPhone draws so much excitement for revealing a feature Nokians have enjoyed for years...

You're almost there, Apple. You have the fandom, the buzz... Why not be more like Nokia's Nseries and take the "feature" crown along with the "ease of use" crown that not everyone values anyway. It'd be sad to repeat the same mistakes Apple Corp. did with its PC's and get usurped by the N97 right as they begin making inroads.

Free that iPhone, Steve! The hardware's there. Let the software catch up! (iPhone users will think I sound crazy, but Nseries users get what I mean...)

How do i do this? i brought several pieces for the video outlet and they only play sound and the screen displays black. i seen a piece in Radio Shack but it was $79.99 and i was skeptical and i just walked out but i wanna play my apps on tv.

I'll wait for them to able to play wow game on Iphone so I can grind wow gold on the go.
