It's not clear what has changed at this point, but a brand spankin' new firmware for the
Storm versioned 4.7.0.83 has just leaked out onto the interwebs. The good news is that -- if our math is right, anyway -- 83 is a considerably higher number than 76, so we're hoping that this cut incorporates all the changes in
4.7.0.76 that didn't make it into 75, the upgrade
officially released by Verizon not long ago. If you're bold enough (pun intended) to give it a go, let us know how it treats you, alright?
Well, it shouldn't be driving at .08.
go to sleep man! GOD BLESS YOU night
i wish the update fixed the loose end buttons about to fall off, add wifi, and get rid "Sure Press". Losing SP will also get rid of the HUGE gaps between the screen and the body.
couldn't they just make typing not sure press, and everything else the same, then most peoples complaints would be fixed right?
Threw this on last night, here's what I notice.
1) Phone is much snappier, transitions faster, and closes programs in a heartbeat
2) Camera lag significantly reduced.
3) Web browsing is BLAZING fast
4) Media player runs much smoother, i.e. you can actually slide the progress bar around now.
A big jump up from .75
Another firmware fix? 10 releases in 8 weeks? It is getting ridiculous!
This is only the second update. the phone was originally shipped with 4.7.0.65 software, the first update changed it to 4.7.0.75 software, this is the second update to 4.7.0.83. and this .83 sw update is not even official yet. please explain how you got to 10 updates in 2 weeks.
I would rather have 10 releases in a couple of weeks, and know that RIM/Verizon is being proactive about the situation than having a bunk phone with no fixes in sight. This phone is awesome, however I as well as everyone else knows that there are some bugs....but AT LEAST they are quick about getting it fixed.
You don't understand.. it is a nightmare for IT department to upgrade software on a weekly basic. For high school kid like yourself, upgrading daily will give you some joy, I'm sure. LOL
but isn't that the IT guy's job??
uh. how would being "bold" be a pun when you're talking about the storm? :)
Been running it a few hours. Camera, browser, and accelerometer all faster. Good stuff I tell ya, loving this thing.
I as well downloaded the software upgrade (thanks to crackberry.com) and installed it today
Camera faster
media player is better
smother transitions
internet is a little faster
programs close smother
so far no resets when multiple programs are running
as for the IT guy that is your job i mean you cant be that busy that u have to do a 10 min download once or twice a month.
for all the rest of you go download this NOW!!!!
After running 4.0.7.83 for a while, have noticed a few things.
1. After running for 2 days, when you press the lock button on top, it seems you can not unlock pressing it again. You need to press the red phone hang up button, then when the text says it is locked, you can then press the unlock button.
2. The storm, after pressing the lock button, no longer fades out to dim the screen to black, I have had to remove the battery to correct, but both instances return after a few hours of operation.
Anyone else see these problems with .83?
I had the software on there for about a week (ever since the first day it was released at Crackberry) The camera was definitely faster, but I rolled back my software last night. I just couldn't stand the lock/unlock bug anymore. The problem is basically the same as what is described above. Press lock and it locks (takes a little too long), but when you try to unlock it doesn't work. You have to press another button to get the "Phone is locked" screen and then try and unlock. For me, this still didn't work reliably. So, after the 4th or 5th time of standing there wanting to use the phone that was locked in my hand, I rolled back the .75. Locking and unlocking works perfectly again.
does .83 correct the answering problem? i can deal with the locking issue if i can answer my phone the corect way now!
So does anyone know where I can download this leaked firmware?
