S40 is the best mobile software (IMHO). It's fast, it's stable, it's extremely easy to use - it just works. Of course, you lose "smartphone" capabilities, like installing and running a bunch of applications in parallel. S60 is Symbian-based, S40 is not. I agree w @ILoveApple - I dislike Symbian and the 6260 gives the best of Nokia - best hw, best sw.
(I hope that Nokia buying Symbian three weeks ago will change this in 2009.)
