I think this happens because the stories post separately for the different sites, and most people read from engadget.com, not one of the satellite sites. The real numbers, to me lay somewhere between those here and those o'er yon.
I noticed that as well; I imagine that Engadget Mobile appeals more to those with a specific interest in phones who are therefore more open minded about and interested in non-Apple gear.
Also, if you are an Apple troll then you would much prefer to ply your wares in a high-traffic site like Engadget, rather than here.
