people like the sidekick because, for the most part, it looks cool and it a fairly easy phone to use. It's not completely customizable but there are tons of customization the latest versions can do. One in particular is that you can pick a notification sound when you receive a text from a particular person, something WinMo lacks out of the box. In addition, you can find an AIM/Yahoo/MSN client that matches what is on the sidekicks. It's the only software that will keep you signed on and receiving IM's if you lose service, then send them to you once you get your service back. It has its downs, but a whole lot of ups. Unfortunately, I never got one because I don't like T-Mo, I like WinMo and touchscreens.
“At a glance -- particularly as a non-Storm user -- you might say "wait a second, that's just a Storm." And in reality, you wouldn't be far off with that assessment.”

PCD does Sidekicks? I thought it was Danger...
Remember the Motorola Sidekick Slide? Danger just makes software and controls the brand, they don't have hardware engineers.
I think is sharp, this thing seems ugly and old, why ppl like sidekick so much?
@ icchan
The thing pictured up there is a slideclick ( a children's SMS toy), if thats what you meant :p
If that isn't what you meant, I love the look of the sidekicks. In fact, if this sidekick has wifi and some kind of application store, I'm all in.
flame, thats the point, no wifi, no 3g, no full customize cellphone, just to send sms and call and the battery is a pain in the arse.
