I was wondering why they are going broke, this is what happens when you are the oldest in the industry you think that your shit doesnt stink and one day you wake up and realize that your Symbian based smartphone isnt that smart because its too slow, your linux platform is incomplete and varies on each handset. your core features are lacking and you have the most worthless asthetics of all manufacturers and instead of being original again and again you try to improve a dying design and resell and rebundle a pile of crap. maybe its time they move away from the hellomoto branding and stop leaving their logo so obscenely large and out of place because we all know that is a sign of insecurity. Other manufacturers have start up screens on their phones but moto decided that instead of a normal graphical start up screen they wanted to put their M so big it takes up the entire screen, seems like a lack of creativity to me. Ontop of that you discontinue handsets that would rock your show, for example if they developed the Z10 for Cross Markets rather than focusing on one market and leaving everyone else out and having different handsets for every market rather than create a few very strong standing handsets that dont have problems and can easily have their Firmware and Operating Systems upgraded but instead focusing on creating handsets with more bulk and more plastic and making them thinner and wider and recycling the same design. I find it hilarious they made a cell phone that is 2 grand but Nokia has had phones for the same price that offer so much more, ontop of that the worthless yet very prestigeous vertu has more bang for its buck. that RAZR 3 that they may have canned would have been a savior if it was running Android. How bout Motorola focus on stability and efficiency rather than asthetics and value less physical designs.
I completely agree with you on the Z10, how badly did they miss the mark on selling that phone. You could take a movie, edit it, and upload it to YouTube all on your phone. Seriously, the Motorola marketing people couldn't find a way to sell that?
Everyone bad mouths Motorola designs but that isn't the root of the problem. Motorola has the worst sales and market organization in the industry. Move Apple's marketing people to Motorola and everything changes. The Motorola engineers can design a compelling phone, but the marketing people kill the good features and than can't sell it.
