Palm announcing something at MWC next month, GSM Pre likely
Looks like Palm wants to play ball at Mobile World Congress in February, seeing how they've got a mysteriously password-protected site going called palmmwc2009.com -- a domain name that leaves little to the imagination. There's no telling what our new crush has in store, but if we had to guess, it'd probably be an official unveiling of the 3G GSM version of the Pre; MWC's a European show, after all, and the CDMA version isn't doing 'em much good over there. Either that, or they're unveiling a WiMAX Foleo... or maybe webOS was a smokescreen for the real Nova. Do us a big favor and contribute some baseless speculation in comments, alright?[Via Gearlog]
Update: Looks like Palm's already killed the site. Oopsie!

OMG Palm is preggers!!!! And getting engaged!!!
Link doesn't even work...
But yeah. I hope it will be the GSM Pre. I need a phone to replace my Centro. Badly.
Ya, so I already posted this in comments on this article on the Engadget main site, but I'll repeat here for you Mobile readers:
OK, I thought Engadget writers were smarter than his. Nobody else thought to do a WHOIS lookup on the domain? Allow me to paste the important parts for you:

So unless Mischief Media Inc. is some sort of subsidiary of Palm, which I doubt, this was nothing more than a troll. And you all fell for it. The reason the site went offline is probably because Palm got wind of it and threatened legal action if they didn't.
Fortunately, I had no preconceptions about your level of intelligence. If you'd bothered to investigate Mischief Media *at all*, you'd discover that it's a marketing firm who has partnered with Palm in the past.
I just went to http://mischiefmedia.ca
Their front page mentions:
"We're a digital agency that likes our projects to stand out! We create smart, simple marketing solutions that make sense."
Plus they mention previously working with Palm. Certainly sounds like Palm may have hired them again
Ya, after I posted that on Engadget Mobile, someone pointed this out to me on Engadget and I admitted that I jumped to conclusions and whatnot. I'm not stupid, just lazy. I only did a whois lookup on the domain out of curiosity. I apologize for insulting the Engadget staff. Please forgive my ignorance.
If it is a 3G GSM phone, whos going to get it? I am sure ATT and Tmo dont really care, but would want it - the iphone and G1 will be fighting it out as to who is the king of the superphones. Personally, I hope it comes to Tmo.. The 3G is fast, more reliable and there are less boneheads on it. Not to mention.. their device dosnt crash the damn thing.
AAHAHAHA! AHAHAHAHA! AHAHAHAHA!
I agree with you Totally, the 3G on T-Mobile is almost ALWAYS Faster and More reliable then the ATT 3G network in almost every way. I know through Personal experience not to mention that Online Editors are consistently talking about this same thing.
They may still need to spread out but its Obviously Superior to ATT's CRap Network as big as it may be it Still is Inferior. Pity considering all the Money ATT has thrown into it for nothing aparently.
Look it up.
"If it is a 3G GSM phone, whos going to get it?"
I think the correct answer here is "the majority of all mobile networks in the world". This is the inherent stupidity of launching a device as CDMA - coverage only makes up 20% of the global network market. GSM is in the vast majority.
