LG's VX9600 Versa phone makes its debut before the camera

We've already seen a few screens and sketches, but LG's new VX9600 (or Versa) has proven to be pretty camera shy for a phone with so much to show off -- until now, that is. Those pics above come courtesy of HowardForums member Snap315, who also has a few more available for your perusal at the link below. The standout here, as you can see, is the detachable QWERTY keyboard module, which is just one of a number of promised detachable modules for the phone, including a gamepad, a pair of speakers, and an internet module with integrated WiFi. Unfortunately, there's still no word on a release date, but these pics would seem to suggest that it'll be coming sooner rather than later.

How about a camera module? Flash, better sensor, etc...
Why not have like...a VX9650? With all of the modules built in. Then it would like a European phone.
Anyways, I hope this goes for about 100-150. If they make it like the Renown's pricing and have a suckish phone for 180 dollars they are just being assholes.
I'm thinkin' Polaroid style photo printer attachment?
Verizon will mess it up by limiting functionality unless you buy it from them.
I'm sorry. But detachable modules? Seriously. I certainly would not like have to carry around a bunch of extra hardware (probably in a fanny pack of some sort, and you know that would be bad) just to use my phone! Yes I know it will probably function well enough without the modules.
Having detachable modules, while being a novel idea, are just going to be something else to lose. Which I'm sure would suck even more concidering how much the modules probably cost.
im with you. while it does look better than the device i made up in my head going off the descriptions of it from these articles, i still dont think its a very practical idea. im sure they will sell plenty of them though honestly to the "look at me" crowd, but it just seems to have "bad idea" written all over it.
first off i think LG is doing a great job of coming up with new ideas, and i have always gone by the moto " Don't Knock it till ya try it" .. in responce to those above do you really think you would lose the modules ??? i mean you make it sound like you are so lazy! and it looks to me like it might hold or carry at least one module on it at a time ! not trying to be an ass to the coments above but really ,, really is todays socitey that dumb and lazy , .... just my thoughts sorry if they sound mean but you must be responsible with your stuff... plus i wanna see you design something of that magnitude and market it .. you would crash and burn.
Does anyone know if this phone will be considered a "smartphone" by Verizon and therefore be subject to the mandatory data plan?
They will most likely treat it like they do the Dare. Not as a smartphone and no mandatory data plan. And you get unlimited date for $15 w/ VCast.
it looks pretty cool im just not understanding the whole qwerty keypad how it filps but it is set to come out around feb 22
