Nokia spits out updates for N82 and N78

Nokia's update elves have been hard at work getting improvements out to all kinds lately and today's lucky recipients are the N78 and N82. N78 (v20.149.051.1) gets a new version of Nokia Maps, and some speed boost in the UI department -- which is always appreciated. N82 (v31.0.016) apparently gets has User Data Preservation (which should ensure this update won't wipe out your personal settings) and some other unknowns, though All About Symbian figure it's mostly bug fixes. Update's available via Nokia Software Update, but before you hop-to, follow the various reads and vias for a full breakdown of what's new.

Update: UDP is NOT new in this release as pointed out by Steve Litchfield (All About Symbian) and Will. Many thanks.

The N82 has had User Data Preservation since last year. Not a new feature.
Losers at nokia! where is my firmware upgrade for my E71 NAM?
Didnt you just get a v200 update a few days ago?
why doesn't nokia ever post change logs?
I promise you Nokia, while I am drooling over the N97 NAM, the fact that NAM versions are 2nd class citizens with FW updates, I will gladly flip you off for an Android or Palm handset if something good comes down the pipes.
No, no, no, I was the one who broke this news over on All About Symbian. The N82 has always had UDP. You're spreading a careless typo from Symbian Guru. Please, guys, follow news to its source, otherwise we end up in a game of 'chinese whispers'!!
Wow. Glad I bought an N95-3. No need to deal with all those software updates, just learn to live with the bugs.
I'm so happy I got rid of Nokia Nsuite 's dozens of bloated and buggy programs in need of constant updates , patches, fixes and what not.
The main reason I abandoned Nokia after a couple of years first with an N95 and then with an N95-8GB , was that I could'nt stand anymore all those faulty programs Nokia pretends you install on your PCs.
I even payed to buy their ridiculous "simple center" program and had to erased it after a week because it was worse than a virus.
To sync my new HTC touch HD and Samsung Omnia, is a breeze and a joy and updates are few and far between because they just are'nt needed.
I do find the new N97 tempting, but unless Nokia gets a grip on its PC software I'm gonna stick to win Mobile (with touch flo or touch wiz of course), particularly now that Win Mo 6.5 is just behind the corner, (some corner ).
I'm not bothered about the lack of E71 NAM updates.
I'm excited there should be some great Android announcements next month.
I've enjoyed my time with you S60 but now it's time to move on.
