Sprint Treo Pro now on sale at Best Buy
We already knew that the Sprint-branded Treo Pro was making guest appearances at the occasional Best Buy, but thanks to a hard working web admin, you're one step closer to owning one without having to step foot in the aforesaid store... if you're willing to wait, that is. Palm's CDMA Treo Pro has found itself a holding page on Best Buy's website, and while we're desperately hoping the $699.99 off-contract price is still subject to change (read: drop), those anxious to get in early can pre-order one as we speak. Loose estimates have it shipping in a week or two, but we noticed that the handset was go for in-store pickup in most B&M locations near us. Oh, and don't forget the "Great Financing Offer" as you checkout -- with a sticker pushing seven bills, you'll probably need it.

Wow! Best Buy is selling GSM phones for Sprint! Looks like they need to update their "Product Description" text. Otherwise, you'll have some fairly upset customers trying to activate their new Sprint GSM Treo 850s.
D'Oh!
^Maybe Deutsche Telekom already took over Sprint ... but they're shy about announcing it to their remaining stockholders. ;)
Why do you guys constantly wonder about the unsubsidized prices of phones? It's silly, since no one actually believes that this phone will be sold for $699 with a contract. It's disingenuous and yet you guys keep doing it.
If you're gonna beef about the $699 price tag, beef with Best Buy and their silly practice of advertising the phone at the full unsubsidized price.
Until someone can explain to me why a laptop computer, a PC, a 42" television, 2.5 Wiis, 3 Xbox 360s, or 2 TiVo HDs are less complicated or cheaper than an unsubsidized mobile phone, I will be skeptical any unsubsidized mobile phone should cost more than $299.
Seriously, that's a joke.
February 15... remember the day
You'd have to be insane to pay $700 for a Treo Pro.
the treo pro isn't gonna touch the Pre...february 15th might be the day the Pro will hit best buy mobile - but it's gonna end up like the instinct once the Pre hits shelves...
The Instinct is a very popular phone, even now. We sell through them very nicely. Just because it's not a full featured smart-phone doesn't mean it can't be successful. I had one for a few months, liked it, but I wanted more so got a Touch Diamond...still, it's an awesome phone for a lot of people out there.
Long time reader, first time poster. Just wanted to give an FYI that I went into my local Best Buy out here in Thousand Oaks, CA after reading the engadget update, and I was able to purchase the new Treo Pro at 249.99 with my eligible upgrade! WooHoo!
You have to be insane to buy this phone at this time. No?
Just went to Best Buy to upgrade to a Pro on Sprint. Was told that they were all recalled due to an operating system error and that they wouldn't be available again until March 4th. They still had the display model out though promoting it. Anyone seen anything on a recall?
