A year ago, "innovation" and "iDEN" were two words we wouldn't dare use in the same sentence -- but in the age of
i9s and
8350is, the landscape has changed just a bit. That's not to say we'd dare consider switching from CDMA or GSM to the old-school PTT airwaves, but hey, it's good to know the Nextels and Mikes of the world are still getting theirs in 2009. This year should see the release of the Motorola i465, the very first iDEN Moto to score a QWERTY keyboard -- and no, it's not Windows Mobile or anything fancy like that. Instead, it seems they'll be taking the low-tech route by grafting a full keyboard onto a dumbphone, a strategy that's really caught on with many of the world's carriers in the past year as they've looked to boost messaging revenue with cool, affordable phones geared toward a younger segment. It's got Bluetooth 2.0 and a lowly VGA cam, but other than that, specs, release dates, and target carriers are all a mystery to us -- so if you're in that curious group of folks who text and push-to-talk like monsters and can't tolerate anything out of Waterloo, keep your eyes peeled.
Is there some reason iDen phones always have to have crappy LCDs?
Why do ANY phones have VGA cameras in 2009? Are 1.3 and 2.1MP sensors really that expensive? VGA cameras are useless for anything except taking a picture for your background.
Oh man that thing's fugly!
ugliest phone ive ever seen in mah liiiifeeee
i really think that theses two phones are for nextel here in the us the model on the right is the nextel I877 which is already in our computer systems, The i877 is a nice phone and even if the i465 is ugly it will still sale regardless for nextel.
That is one pigeon-hole. It's not the first QWERTY iDEN phone, not the first motorola iDEN phone, not the first motorola QWERTY phone, but the first Motorola QWERTY iDEN phone. Way to make history, guys...
y'all got them type n chirp phones!?
That thing looks kinda bizarre. Who buys this stuff?
This phones is for Boost Mobile.
You say "old school" but tell which of the current, i would assume "new school" phones that can send and email anywhere in the world with the push of 1 (count them ONE) button. iDEN STILL the fastest, still the best, and oh yes. If it is so old school why do the other two guys keep trying to come up with at system to compete.
Im quite Sure that Boost is Gonna Clean Up The Colors and The Button Design. Ignore all that and there isnt any other Prepaid on the market that looks like a Smartphone. If they clean it up ill buy one for Sure
