New iPhone in June? Somebody seems to think so
Apple has a habit of refreshing its iPod and iPhone-type products on a pretty regular schedule, so a new iPhone in June really wouldn't be the surprise of the century, but now we've got word to that effect from the United Arab Emirates. Etisalat is picking up the iPhone 3G over there, along with providing support for existing iPhones sold on the gray market, but the writeup in Business 24/7 makes mention of a brand new iPhone hitting in June, which Etisalat will also get at launch. This could easily be a misunderstanding on the part of the reporter, a misquote, or a combination of signs, portents and omens, but it's certainly an interesting little tidbit. We'd have to think that anyone liable to get this story right would also be aware that a brand new iPhone would be worth more than a passing reference, but we suppose we'll just have to wait and see. Apple Insider also mentions rumblings of an upcoming iPhone having a fairly significant architecture overhaul -- that's mostly conjecture at this point, but might make sense (or room) for an iPhone nano. And you know how we love the iPhone nano.

so i guess this iphone will have copy/paste and mms, so that we can sell out 3Gs and upgrade to the new awesome cool features (sarcasim) of copy/paste and mms and it will have a upgraded camera and video recording wow, wow i can't wait , wow apple thanks a million.
Now really ,would an Iphone Nano make sense? No, not really. Nobody wants a smaller Iphone. The size of the current Iphone is perfect its not too small and not too Big. It is much more likely that apple will make the Iphone slimmer and give it a hardware update (Better camera, screan with higher resolution)
It may be worth remembering the problems Apple had with pixel density and screen configuration on the nano evolution (fat nano, etc). And this for a device with no application base or the complexity of an iPhone.
So the screen size and pixel density will be fixed for a while as this is also common to the IPT.
Engadet should know better than recycling this story....

7 reasons to justify iPhone nano (french) : http://www.guyhom.net/blog/2008/12/31/7-raisons-pour-justifier-liphone-nano/
Iphone Nano just seems like it wouldn't be easy to use at all. Way too small
The iphone can't be upgraded this year......it will have to be next. Most people have a two year deal with AT&T and they are not going to allow people to upgrade to another phone at a lower price. The update will come closer to the end of those contacts and not in the middle of them.............I mean AT&T is bitching about how they subsidized the iphone and it has hurt their bottom line........I really don't think they will let it happen again so soon.
Plus the iphone is going to have to be........"amazing" with some very cool new features and be really cutting edge. I mean the current version can't do the basics for us business people (copy and paste please.......and add some native voice dial that I can use with a bluetooth headset......and don't get me started about the battery life.
Apple should just update the current model with the basics it should have had when it came out!!!! I for one will not be buying a new if it comes out this year!!!,......big waste of money!!!!!
