Motorola Renew now available from T-Mobile
If you're interested in doing your little part to save the environment from the scourge of non-recyclable cellphones, take note: your knight in shining armor has arrived. Motorola's W233 Renew candybar for T-Mobile isn't going to blow anyone away with its spec sheet, but it might just blow away a few Cal Berkeley tree sitters with its plastics recovered from recycled water bottles, carbon neutral rating, 100 percent recyclable materials, and manufacturing process that requires 20 percent less energy than your average mobile. It features Moto's CrystalTalk noise reduction tech, support for microSD expansion up to 2GB, 128 x 128 display, and an impressive 9 hours of talk time, but maybe the most impressive part is the price: $9.99 on contract. The Renew is available direct from T-Mobile starting today.

Some people just need a phone, since the price is good why not be green about it
what about the unlocked price?
9.99 on sub doesn't really mean anything.. 24x9.99 is a lot. plenty of phones nowadays in the sub 100$ unlocked range.
and if you're really into recycling, you could get a pretty sweet used smartphone for 100$ now too. with 3g. with multimegapixel cam.
I agree. This is a better option. Recycling is good, reusing is better.
Yes, environmentally speaking, "recycling is good, reusing is better." And if you're buying a new phone, buying one that is recyclable and didn't require the processing of new plastics is best.
I'm amazed that the inards of this phone are 100% recyclable. If this is true, I wish Nokia would put such guts into a glass and stainless steel beauty like the 8801 or 8600 Luna.
Why not just make the daggone thing free?
