Verizon prepaid pricing changes coming February 11th
It was bound to happen, and now it is. Slowly, but most certainly. As the Verizatel mishmash gels more solidly into place, Verizon Wireless is making some changes when it comes to prices and features. We already heard about its tweaks to the Test Drive and NE2 programs, and now a few leaked slides are detailing imminent changes in the prepaid pricing structure. While there are far too many details to cover in this space, we will say that there are four new categories from which to choose: Prepaid Unlimited Talk, Prepaid Plus, Prepaid Core and Prepaid Basic, All four are broken down in good fashion right there in the read link, so you might as well check it out now before Big Red shoves it at you when you least expect it.

T-Mobile Prepaid [Pay By The Day] is still cheaper...
how much is T-mobile PbtD?!
4 bucks a day is great!
Correction: BoostMobile is the Cheapest at $50 flat:

# Unlimited talk
# Unlimited text including multi-media messaging
# Unlimited web
# Unlimited walkie-talkie
# Voicemail, long distance and nationwide network included
# No hidden fees, no contracts and no credit checks
# No roaming charges
You forgot one,
# Extra charges for roaming, and you will roam, or take advantage of the next feature:
# No signal
Wrong on both counts, but hey, go ahead and pay more for the sub-par Verizon product. That's just more beer for the rest of us...
...the international rates are horrendous- it's cheaper for me to use international roaming from friggin' China than use your service to call.
If you're calling Afghanistan, perhaps. If, however, you're like most people and you're calling Canada or Mexico, you are mistaken:
Boost (http://www.boostmobile.com/irates/irates.html#M) - No special plan needed:
Canada: $0.10/minute
Mexico: $0.10/minute (only $0.02/minute if calling a landline in Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey)
Verizon (http://b2b.vzw.com/international/Long_Distance/by_region.html) - Note, have to be on their "plan" for an _additional_ $3.99 per month to get these rates.
Calling a: Landline Mobile
Canada $0.09 $0.09
Mexico $0.09 $0.25
If not on Verizon's special plan the rates are even higher per minute:
Calling a: Landline Mobile
Canada $0.49 $0.49
Mexico $0.49 $0.65
It's still pretty ridiculous that prepaid plans are so much cheaper than contracted plans.
What is the point of signing a contract any more, seriously?
