If you're calling Afghanistan, perhaps. If, however, you're like most people and you're calling Canada or Mexico, you are mistaken:
Boost (http://www.boostmobile.com/irates/irates.html#M) - No special plan needed: Canada: $0.10/minute Mexico: $0.10/minute (only $0.02/minute if calling a landline in Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey)
“Measuring 21.5 inches each, with 1920 x 1080 resolution, 1,000:1 contrast ratio, and optical multitouch technology under their chunky bezels, these two models represent the biggest mainstream push for touchscreen computing yet.”

Wrong on both counts, but hey, go ahead and pay more for the sub-par Verizon product. That's just more beer for the rest of us...
...the international rates are horrendous- it's cheaper for me to use international roaming from friggin' China than use your service to call.

Verizon (http://b2b.vzw.com/international/Long_Distance/by_region.html) - Note, have to be on their "plan" for an _additional_ $3.99 per month to get these rates.
Calling a: Landline Mobile
Canada $0.09 $0.09
Mexico $0.09 $0.25
If not on Verizon's special plan the rates are even higher per minute:
Calling a: Landline Mobile
Canada $0.49 $0.49
Mexico $0.49 $0.65
