First decent Windows Mobile 6.5 screenshots leak out
They're still not as intriguing as those early leaks we got, but the first non-crappy Windows Mobile 6.5 shots hit today, and we're glad to see that terrifying bird wallpaper isn't hardcoded into the OS as we'd feared. Okay, we kid, but everything does look much nicer with antialiasing enabled, and there are some shots showing new curved tabs and new horizontal scrollbars. Welcome cosmetic changes, sure, but it's still incremental stuff -- we'll see if Microsoft has anything besides the honeycomb and My Phone in store for us at MWC. Two more at the read link.

I'll make use of some of this comment room....
Things I'd like to see with Windows Mobile 6.5/7, forgive me if some of these already exist in 6.1 since I haven't had a chance to use that version thoroughly.
a) Office 2k7 editing ability, with 800x480 screens and 1ghz processors, I see no reason why a mini office couldn't have most of the functionality that the full suite currently has. Let me save to pdf's and open documents.
b) cdma/gsm unlocked world phones, stop making custom phones for a specific company (verizon/tmobile/sprint/att). It can't cost that much more to support every radio frequency and in the long run might be cheaper since you're only making one unit.
c) A better mobile IE.
Any of this stuff would nice...
It's kinda funny, what counts for decent these days.
I flashed WM6.5 to my Fuze yesterday and WOW is it fast. It's too buggy for everyday use right now but for shits and giggles it's an awesome OS.
@nick
a) You can open/edit/save Office 2007 docs in WM6.1. Saving to PDF is something that the PC version just started doing so I don't expect that anytime soon.
b) Not a WM problem, that's all OEM stuff and who's paying for what device.
c) PIE6 is available depending on what ROM you use and it's ok. Opera still takes a dump on it. In WM6.5 however, there's PIE6.5 (or PIE7, I don't know what it's considered) and that makes HUGE strides, but Opera still takes a dump on it.
