Nokia busts out its own 8 megapixel slider: the N86
Whoa, Nelly! While Samsung is strutting its 8 megapixel Memoir and Sony Ericsson is letting us all in on the forthcoming 12 megapixel Idou, Nokia is getting even with its 8 megapixel N86. Amazingly, we saw that the suits in Espoo had this thing on the brain way back in 2007, but not until today have we seen a real live product. The N-series slider boasts a Carl Zeiss lens, AutoFocus, dual-LED flash and Symbian S60, not to mention a 2.6-inch OLED display, 8GB of internal memory, a 3.5 millimeter headphone jack, microUSB connector and Share on Ovi integration. We're left in the dark when it comes to pricing and availability, but we're hoping to hear more really, really soon. More shots are waiting in the read link.
Update: The full specs sheets have just leaked, yum!

Why the heck would they take the first next-gen top photo phone and put a dual LED on it instead of Xenon. Yes, they need the LED for video, but considering how far behind Nokia is already in the photo phone 2009, lack of Xenon is a deal-breaker for me. Sony 905 or Omnia HD thank you.
+1
I can't get the point of this. Same thing with the N97 :(
Megapixels and flash tye are not deal-breakers for me. My hope is that this announcement, along with that of the N97, will drop the price of the N96 soon. That would make me happy.
what the hell! i juts bought a N85!
great phone, btw.
Same here. :/
Seems like there is not that many new things in the N86 though: 8GB internal flash, and a CCD sensor with more pixel density and thus more blur. The one thing I *would* trade in the N85 for is the keypad - it seems the keys are more ergonomically designed..
Still wanting to see the upgrade the to E90 which was touted as having touchscreen functions with the E90's resolution and can't wait for the N97 . I'm hoping Nokia are saving best till last, the design of this model and the two others look way too mundane and the interface is looking a little 2006 now and having a camera with no Xenon flash is fail.
