Nokia 6710 Navigator and 6720 classic hands-on
Nokia's 6710 Navigator and 6720 classic aren't gonna win any beauty contests. Our friends at Engadget Spanish can attest to that, and after getting some hands-on time with the GPS-friendly handsets, they pointed in particular to the simple, inelegant design. Still, they say the navigational functionality should more than make up for the aesthetics, so if you're in the market for such a phone, this might be the ugly duckling for you. Cool...
Cause thats what everyone one was looking for from Nokia, classics, like its completely impossible that anyone wanted a high resolution Nseries with 720p video recording and a capacitive touch screen...
I see what you did there...
"functionality should more than make up for the aesthetics"
Don't you get it it a little bit backward? It looks mopre like in this case the aesthetics was simply sacrificed fro functionality. Is this always bad? I do not think so. One can easily imagine beautiful cars without wheels but what's the point? Yes, some people prefer it without buttons (iPhoniacs) whereas others buy phones to do "stuff" :-)
Other than the little star engraving at the bottom of the Navigator, I don't see what's so aesthetically unpleasing about either mobile. They just look like the high-end mobiles that were designed for the masses 2 or 3 year ago. They don't really stand out, but neither do a lot of the more modern touchscreen phones.
Looks good. Here are the major changes that I could see compared to the 6210 Navigator:
- Wi-fi
- 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens
- 3.5mm jack
- 2GB card and car mounting kit included
- 3D graphics acceleration (?)
- UNLIMITED NAVIGATION! ("license for device lifetime")

I am not impressed by the design of these phones. I have to admit it, i love the unlimited navigation packages of Nokia
Nokia is dying slowly. They are not innovating fast enough. Samsung and LG are shoveling hundreds of new phones every week and gaining immense market share by the second.
