Actually, I think it's a good idea. I'm waiting for Samsung to come out with the 18MP cameraphone, where it can take X-rays from a mile away behind a 12" thick wall, 12 feet underground; and take close-up shots of the Milky Way from my basement with the lens cap on, and be able to beam crystal clear pics of it to my future self. Seriously though, 12MPs in a cameraphone? 5MP to 8 MPs (w/ Xenon Flash) in a cameraphone is fine (for me). But then again, Samsung is known for pushing the technology envelope.
