Video: Apple's iPhone and Bluetooth keyboard get together, have a good ole time
Not that we've never seen a jailbroken iPhone get cozy with a keyboard before, but this is just a match made in heaven. Not according to those who matter in Cupertino, mind you, but since when have you renegade hackers cared about those folks? The video waiting down in the read link shows off an Apple Bluetooth keyboard interacting with an iPhone 3G, but it seems that you'll have to wait a bit longer before the general public gets instructions / files / etc. in order to replicate.

Of course, Apple's bluetooth keyboard has been working for years with any S60 phone...but that's Apple 'Thinking Different'[sic]....Apple always think they know what you want better than you do.
Right. I've been using the Apple Wireless Keyboard with my Nokia N95 ever since I got it; combined with the included TV-out cable I have a mini-computer in my living room. :) (I check mail, browse the web, even use PuTTY to access remote UNIX hosts, all via my cell phone).
Ironically enough, it also seems that Nokia phones are supported better on the Mac than the iPhone. (iTunes/iPhoto/AddressBook/etc sync, browse the phone's file system via the Bluetooth menu bar applet, etc.)
Oh, and by the way, I pay $15/month to AT&T for unlimited data. :)
Sweet. If this could be available in the mainstream, I could see a 3rd party create a clip-on slide-out bluetooth keyboard. Maybe even integrate a slide-out keyboard into one of those battery packs, although you probably wouldn't need bluetooth for that.
I don't understand what is stopping apple from creating code that will allow the iPhone to do this in the first place. I understand that the majority of iPhone users are comfortable with the onscreen keyboard, but this would help sell bluetooth apple keyboards as well!
WOW! AMAZING! If you hack your iPhone, you could *almost* use it like any other smartphone! way to go, Apple...
Just what I was thinking when I got my AWK :)
I hope they'll release it soon!
wouldnt it be cool if you could do that without having to hack it
We did a jailbreak-free external keyboard using SDK 2.0:
