Sony, Nintendo and Nokia sued for making gaming devices that do stuff

While most folks welcome gaming devices that do more than simply play games, Texas-based Wall Wireless LLC seems to think that's a bit over the line, at least when it's not getting a piece of the action. More specifically, the little known company says that Sony, Nintendo, and Nokia are infringing on its patent for a "Method and Apparatus for Creating and Distributing Real-Time Interactive Media Content Through Wireless Communication Networks and the Internet," which apparently relates to someone distributing "messages having aural or visual content that is generated by the operator using handheld apparatuses such as mobile telephones." According to Wall Wireless, that patent not only covers the DS and PSP, but specific games like Mario Kart and Wipeout Pulse, and a whole host of Nokia's game-playing phones, including the N95, N93, and N82. As a result, it's seeking a permanent injunction against the allegedly infringing companies lest it be "irreparably harmed," as well as the usual damages, expenses, and attorney's fees, not to mention "pre-judgment and post-judgment interest."[Via Register Hardware]
Hey, why stop at Nintendo, Sony, and Nokia? They should just get every cell phone manufacturer in on it too.
Wait, so why isn't Apple being sued? Arn't they the ones that tout their phone as a "gaming" device?
People like this make me hate this country. I want to sue them for being greedy assholes.
It makes me sad to be a Texan. We have stupid lawsuits like this come out of the woodworks all the time.
It's like.....really ridiculous. Gaming systems have been out FOREVER, lol. They didn't patent ANY of this technology. I'm sure that these companies will destroy them, and then they'll go out of business, which is why I feel they're suing for money anyway.
One would think that since this company patented all of this important gaming stuff, we would have heard about them. Good luck going up against Sony, Nintendo and Nokia. Nintendo has been making games longer than anybody. They should add Apple, Microsoft, and maybe a few other cell manufacturers too, like Moto or Palm. Lol. I agree with Chris Are. I hate people who sue just because they can. This company deserves to be slapped down by Sony!
i think the patent ppl should take the time to read the whole submitted patent before approving them cus these lawsuits are getting ridiculous
i think the most ridiculous thing is the court accepting tis kind of ridiculous cases......
I sincerely hope these big companies would counter-sue their asses off, make them lose their jobs, houses, and future career opportunities. Just basically an all out crash and burn.They're sorry excuses for human beings.
