Motorola Napoleon lives, still on track for a Verizon release?
The Q11's more or less a complete bust, so the Q fans of the world deserve something -- anything -- to hold their interest and reward their loyalty, don't they? We first saw the so-called "Napoleon" for Verizon eons ago, and by now, we'd pretty much assumed it'd been canned somewhere along the way -- but phoneArena has new shots of the thing in the wild that gives us hope that it might yet be released. Considering that it's a GSM / CDMA dual-mode set, it should garner particularly intense interest since Verizon's range of world-compatible phones is limited by nature, and truth be told, the thing doesn't look half bad. We could do without the biometric sensor -- and Windows Mobile 6.1 has us pretty bummed out at this point with 6.5 around the corner -- but it'll see a few sales if they can get it out the door soon. Sadly, it's still anybody's guess when that may be.

*Tater tots not included.
*Vote for Moto!
*You'd be a friggin idiot not to buy this, GOSH.

Wait, they're naming this after some kind of French explorer or king or something, not the Jon Heder movie??
UUUUHHHHGHHHHHH
There are plenty of Napoleons out in the wild. However, from what I understand, it's not going to have an official release.
The entire Motorola WM division got the axe and any phones that were going to be released, were chopped with the division.
I understand the aspect ratio is a little skewed since the picture was taken at an angle, but that Moto looks HUGE compared to the Curve next to it.
The Moto Q9 series phones has always been big, that's how they fit the big keyboard on it (which many claim to be the best keyboard on a mobile phone). The bigger problem to me is the lame screen....I mean if RIM can put sweet screens on their devices with full QWERTY phones I don't see why Motorola cant match them (unless WinMo Standard doesn't support more than 320x240).
i loved my Q9c keyboard. certainly the best smartphone keyboard i've ever used hands down. nothing else holds a candle to it. but i just couldnt take the WinMo Standard anymore so i got a Treo 700wx. i wish i could have a Q with a touchscreen, that would be awesome but pretty much not possible now.
well at least its not another razr phone
Did you really just say WinMo 6.5 was around the corner? A year is around the corner is it?
I have seen this phone in person!! I am a cell phone salesman and I had a browser one day with whom i got into an in depth convo. Before he left, he pulled that bad boy and showed me how it functioned. I dont want to get in trouble or anything, but it definitely has a revolutionary browsing method to guide yourself through menus. There is more flow and more accuracy than any trackball or touch screen.
Moto is setting a bar with this phone. I cant wait to handle it some more.
The model the gentle man showed me was marked for vodaphone however = ), But was being used on verizon's network.
The guts of this phone in a black e71 would equate to my dream phone.
It's a damn shame, seeing people get their hopes up on this one. This phone is not going to be officially released.
And even if it would I would'nt touch it with a stick
I have 2 Napoleons and I can say this is the best device I have ever owned. My frame of reference: Casio e105, IPAQ 3630, Samsung i600 and i730, Motorola Q, Q9c, Samsung Saga, and now the Napoleon. The specs on this include:
Great battery life (standard 1460 mAh; extended 2240 mAh, performance, cool custom home screen, specs: 128 RAM / 128 ROM, CDMA (EVDO Rev A), GSM, WiFi, BT 2.0, aGPS, biometric finger print reader, 2 mp camera. The width of the device is closer the the Q9C rather than the Q9H - meaning its a little more norrow.
As was noted by Hey Ya - "There are plenty of Napoleons out in the wild. However, from what I understand, it's not going to have an official release. The entire Motorola WM division got the axe and any phones that were going to be released, were chopped with the division."

I also have a Moto napoleon, and it's the best goddamn phone I ever owned. World roaming was the minimum barrier for me, and the implementation of WM6.1 is outstanding. The home screen has everything you need, and on it you can easily dpad through weather, web links, rss feeds, your calendar items, and speed dial. The fingerprint reader is simply awesome, much faster than typing in a password when you lock it. Battery life is stellar. The keyboard is also the best of any phone I've had, including the samsung saga and original q. You can find pre-release versions on ebay, make sure it's a rev 3.2 hardware since that's the latest version and bug free.
Moto and Verizon are simply idiots for passing on this phone. As a heavy business user, this is the perfect device.
What´s that different homescreen?
I don't know if anyone has noticed from Verizon, but I feel like there might be chance that this phone is on it's way because the Q9c is no longer available in the stores, or online. I had to have mine replaced because it is being special and the woman had to check if they even had them. The way I look at it is there are two possible outcomes. 1. The Napoleon is on it's way to replace the Q9c or 2. The Q is dead, and being replaced by something better, or not at all.
I was in a Verizon owned store last week and I was told by a Verizon person that the Napolean was supposed to be out in March. The one caveat is that they said it will require the mandatory data package the same way the blackberries require it.
