New copy / paste paradigm in the works for Storm?
Storm firmwares have been leaking out of Waterloo at a positively breakneck pace for a couple months now -- and naturally, new builds of the operating system are liable to bring along new functionality every once in a while. Here's a particularly interesting one: it seems like RIM might have some sort of new clipboard action in store for an upcoming release, adding a visible box around text that you want to select -- just drag the handles on each side to make your selection. Considering that fingers tend to be a little fatter than your average line of text, it seems like a solid plan, but so far, there's no word on when we might see this in a leaked build -- let alone a build officially released by a carrier.

Interesting approach, but it looks like it has a box over more text than is actually highlighted?
you mean to tell me the bb storm does not have copy/paste either?
BB's have had copy/paste since forever. This is just a new/different way to copy/paste than what they have now.
"look i look like an iPhone! Lol"
That's pretty funny
These firmware leaks used to get me hopefull when they were reported but VZW has yet to get off their a$$ and release anything beyond the firmware that the Storm shipped with (.75). I paid good money for this phone and I'm not about to chance bricking it by upgrading it myself to one of the many (better) releases.
So huzza for new releases with new features. Can someone please tell VZW that they're available and maybe they should certify and release one of them already?
newbs flash: the firmware upgrade process is on a blackberry is generally the same, beta or mainstream, through desktop manager. there's a greater chance of bricking it thru an OTA update than thru DM. actually, before the arrival of 4.5OS and later, the only way to upgrade was thru DM.
I bricked mine by flashing in Windows 7. Used a post on the Crackberry forums to bring it back on an XP machine using app loader. You'll be fine.

I just took the plunge and updated from .75 to .109 last night. The forums on CB made it super easy. Def, worth trying. Just back everything up before. You will appreciate your phone more.
VZW has all ready had one official patch released. The patches reported here are alphas or betas and are not releases. I guess next you will be calling on microsoft to release Windows 7, WinMo 6.5 and WinMo 7.0 since it is currently under various phases of development.
